Why March 8 Matters
March 8 is more than a date- it is a call to action.
International Women's Day celebrates the achievements of women while reminding us that gender equality is still unfinished work. Women continue to face unequal opportunities, limited leadership representation, and Gender-Based Violence.
Advancing women’s rights is not optional- it is essential for sustainable development. When women lead, institutions grow stronger. When women are safe, communities thrive. When women are empowered, economies prosper.
Let’s move from awareness to action.

March 7
In Ethiopia, the care economy often goes unnoticed, especially when it involves unpaid work done by loved ones. Traditionally, domestic responsibilities have been assigned predominantly to women, while men engage in income-generating activities. This sterotype division of labor is deeply rooted in our culture, but division of labor is also Ethiopian thing as seen in communities like Awra Amba.

But here’s the truth: Domestic work knows no gender! 🏠❤️

It's time to recognize that caregiving and household responsibilities are a shared duty. We need men to step up and participate in unpaid care work, breaking down outdated stereotypes and fostering a more equitable society.

Let’s celebrate and support the contributions of everyone in the care economy. Together, we can create a balanced and thriving community for all! 💪💖

Prevention of GBV Starts with Us
Gender-Based Violence (GBV) remains a major challenge that affects the safety, dignity, and rights of many women and girls. Preventing GBV is not only the responsibility of institutions — it starts with each of us.
By raising awareness, challenging harmful social norms, supporting survivors, and promoting equality, we can help create safer communities. Real change begins when individuals, communities, and leaders take responsibility and work together.
Prevention of GBV starts with us. Let us stand together to build a future free from violence and discrimination.

Violence against women remains one of the most pervasive global human rights violations. The new agenda for sustainable development, Agenda 2030, includes t...

By raising awareness, challenging harmful norms, and strengthening systems of support, we can create safer and more equitable spaces for all.
Let’s move from awareness to action.

March 3, Women’s Leadership

Leadership has no gender.

When women are represented in decision-making spaces — from community institutions to national leadership — governance becomes more inclusive, innovative, and responsive.

Investing in women’s leadership is not only about fairness; it is about strengthening systems, advancing equality, and driving sustainable development.

Let’s continue creating pathways for women to lead, influence, and shape the future.

March 2, Women’s Rights Are Human Rights

Gender equality is not optional — it is fundamental. Women and girls deserve equal access to education, leadership, economic opportunity, and a life free from violence.

Protecting women’s rights strengthens families, communities, and nations. Real progress happens when rights are not only recognized, but actively upheld.

When Hillary Clinton declared "Women's Rights are Human Rights," she emphasized the fundamental idea that women's rights should be regarded as an integral pa...
