The Ethiopian Medical Students’ Association (EMSA-Ethiopia) expresses deep concern regarding the recent arrest and treatment of medical interns across the country.

We urgently call for:
• The immediate release of detained interns,
• An end to intimidation and academic threats,
• The protection of professional rights and dignity,
• And open dialogue grounded in respect and reform.

Official Statement on the Safety of Health Professionals in Ethiopia

EMSA Ethiopia is deeply concerned about the safety of health professionals following the tragic killing of Dr. Andualem Dagne. This loss highlights the growing threats medical personnel face amid ongoing unrest.

Doctors, nurses, and medical students remain vulnerable, jeopardizing both their well-being and the future of Ethiopia’s healthcare system. Immediate action is needed to ensure their protection and uphold quality healthcare services.

EMSA Ethiopia stands in solidarity with all health professionals and calls for urgent intervention. Protect those who heal others, before it’s too late.
