What an incredible afternoon! 💙

Yesterday’s Afternoon Tea in aid of Len & Jacob exceeded all our expectations. Thanks to the amazing support of our members, families, friends, sponsors and guests, we raised €1,500 for these two wonderful boys, in addition to the direct donations received.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all the members of Tangent Club Malta who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event a success. From planning and organising to selling tickets and welcoming guests, this achievement belongs to every one of you.

A special thank you to the team at Corinthia for their excellent hospitality and support, helping us create such a memorable afternoon for our guests.

We would also like to thank all our generous sponsors who donated raffle prizes. Your kindness and support added so much to the event and helped us raise even more funds for Len & Jacob.

Ghost Walks Malta – Mystery & Historic Night Tour
The Tour will be led by licensed guide Charmaine Bugeja from Ghost Walks Malta for an immersive evening that blends hidden history, local legends, and mysterious tales from Malta’s past.
As you walk through atmospheric streets and historic locations, you’ll uncover stories of forgotten events, and intriguing folklore that reveal a different side of Malta after dark. This is not just a sightseeing tour , it’s a journey into the island’s shadowy past, unexplained stories, and cultural mysteries brought vividly to life through storytelling.
To enhance the experience, guests are encouraged to bring a candle or lantern, adding to the old-world atmosphere of the walk.
For your comfort and safety, please wear comfortable, non-slip footwear, as some areas may involve uneven surfaces or cobbled streets.

Spaces are limited, so early booking is highly recommended.

Tangent Malta in Ethiopia 🇪🇹 Ephraim’s Story.

Yesterday, during our visit to Kidane Mehret School, we met Ephraim, the school librarian, a university graduate, and now also a writer of children’s books.

But his story began very differently.

Many years ago, Sr Laetitia Borg noticed a man begging in a square while holding a one-year-old child suffering from cerebral palsy. The child’s mother had abandoned him shortly after birth because of the child’s condition.

Deeply moved by the situation, Sr Laetitia immediately arranged medical care through a doctor she knew, while also ensuring the family received food, clothing, and support.

In return, she asked the father to stop using the child for begging.

As time passed, Sr Laetitia continued helping the child and eventually enrolled him in her school, determined to give him something that poverty could never take away…..education!

One day, when the boy was around six years old, he suddenly stopped attending school. Concerned, Sr Laetitia went searching for him and discovered that the father had returned to begging with the child in another square.

She found him again, and this time took even closer care of his future.

Despite the challenges caused by his condition, she continued supporting his education every step of the way, even obtaining special permission for extended examination time so he could sit for his exams fairly and with dignity.

That little boy went on to successfully complete school, attend university, major in Computer Science, and minor in Literature.

Today, Ephraim works at the very same school as its librarian. He also writes children’s books, which Sr Laetitia still helps him publish!!

He is one of many who lovingly call her “Mama.”

This is the true power of education, compassion, and refusing to give up on a child💛💛 We did not simply meet a librarian. We met a living proof of what can happen when somebody chooses not to walk away from a child society had already given up on.

One person believed in him.
One child was given an education.
And an entire future was rewritten.

Another day for Tangent Club Malta in Ethiopia 🇪🇹

Today we visited Kidane Mehret School, where Principal Sr Laetitia Borg took us around the compound and shared the extraordinary story of the school’s development over the past 40 years.

We were shown photographs from the 1980s when Sr Laetitia first arrived, a small hut with a corrugated roof and just 40 pupils.

Today, the transformation is incredible.

The school now educates over 800 students and offers a pathway that continues all the way to university. We visited science classrooms, laboratories, and the new computer room donated through the support of Malta’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs under Hon. Ian Borg.

What touched us most was learning that alongside fee-paying students, the school also provides education for children from the orphanage and, depending on available donations, vulnerable street children as well💛💛

Perhaps the most eye-opening reality was discovering that an entire scholastic year, including tuition, textbooks, uniforms, school bag, and stationery, costs approximately just $300 per child.

A powerful reminder that education truly has the power to transform lives, communities, and futures.

Tangent Malta in Ethiopia 🇪🇹

Today our journey took us to Langano, where once again the children touched our hearts in ways that are difficult to describe.

Many of these children have so very little in material things, yet they radiate happiness, warmth, laughter, and joy. It was a beautiful reminder that sometimes those who seem to have the least can teach us the most about gratitude, resilience, and human connection.

Their smiles, curiosity, and pure happiness stayed with us long after we left.

As Tangent Club Malta, experiences like these continue to strengthen our belief in the importance of care, education, opportunity, and kindness!

Tangent Malta in Ethiopia 🇪🇹

Today we began our journey in Ethiopia with a deeply emotional visit to the Maltese nuns serving the local community through their work at the orphanage and at Kidane Mehret School in Addis Ababa

While some of the sisters dedicate their lives to caring for homeless and vulnerable children at the orphanage, others are devoted to education through the well-established school, helping provide children with opportunities, structure, dignity, and hope for a better future.

It is impossible not to be touched by the reality these children face every day, yet despite everything, we were welcomed with smiles, warmth, affection, and joy.

These children reminded us how powerful education, care, and human kindness can be, even in the most difficult circumstances, creating opportunities for a brighter future.

This visit was only the beginning of our experience here in Ethiopia. During the coming days, Tangent Club Malta will continue sharing more about the inspiring work being carried out and the communities we are privileged to meet.

A day that truly touched our hearts. ❤️🇲🇹🇪🇹

What an unforgettable experience representing at the International AGM in Mauritius on 9th May. 🇲🇺✨

From beautiful moments shared with friends from around the world, to meeting inspiring women who continue to shape the future of Tangent, this gathering was truly special.

We were proud to represent and to share a little piece of Malta through our Visit Malta goodies for delegates 🇲🇹❤️

A special pleasure meeting and celebrating alongside Past International President Jill, and congratulating Kerstin on her upcoming journey as Incoming International President. Wishing her a successful and inspiring year ahead.

Friendship, fellowship, service and international understanding continue to make Tangent such a unique family. 🌍🤝
