We are pleased to share that the Ethiopian Heritage Trust (EHT) has been honored at the Crown of Humanity Awards 2026.

On May 23, 2026, EHT was recognized as the First Runner-Up in the Environmental Stewardship Category for its exceptional social impact and outstanding contributions achieved over years of implementation.

During the award ceremony held at Adwa 00 Hall, we also had the opportunity to showcase our conservation and heritage initiatives to participants attending the event.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our members, partners, and communities who continue to stand with us in preserving Ethiopia’s rich heritage for future generations.

Relics associated with Emperor Tewodros II and taken to Britain following the 1868 Maqdala campaign were formally returned to Ethiopia during a ceremony at St Martin’s Chapel, University of Cumbria.

The Ethiopian Heritage Trust (EHT) is happy to see this happen, and the Board Vice President, Dr. Alula Pankhurst, received the relics on behalf of the Ethiopian Heritage Authority. The returned items include strands of Emperor Tewodros II’s hair and a blood-stained cloth linked to his final moments at Maqdala.

We appreciate all who contributed for those who brought the ceremony together Ethiopian clergy, British scholars, diplomats, and museum representatives in a powerful moment of cultural restoration, dialogue, and historical reconciliation.
