Honored to join the First Lady, the CEC for Gender, and other leaders in Samburu’s International Women’s Day celebrations.

I spoke about the urgent need to address Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in our communities. Violence against women and girls has no place in Samburu.

Ending GBV requires all of us, leaders, elders, men, women, and youth. When a community stands together, change becomes possible.

Let us raise our voices, protect our daughters, and build a Samburu where every woman lives with dignity and safety.

Together, we must and we will end GBV.

Gathered in Addis Ababa for a powerful African Chefs Gathering and Policy Convening on African Food Systems, bringing together 140 participants from 50 African countries.

At the heart of the discussions is the call for food sovereignty, the right of African people to define and control their own food systems rooted in indigenous knowledge, culture, and biodiversity.

The campaign, led by civil society voices across the continent, boldly affirms that African food is not only nutritious and diverse, but also deeply political. It’s about reclaiming food systems, protecting seeds, supporting small-scale farmers, and resisting industrial models that threaten Africa’s food heritage.

Hosted by the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA), this gathering is more than an event, it’s a movement. ✊🏾🌱
