Join us in raising awareness on the prevention and ending of GBV in Ethiopia. The 16 Days Campaign is an organizing strategy for individuals and groups around the world to call for the elimination of all forms of gender-based violence against women

Numerous children in underprivileged communities encounter obstacles to accessing fundamental necessities due to factors such as poverty, displacement, inadequate infrastructure, and scarce resources. DPO intervenes to fill this void by supplying essential resources. A key function of DPO in child development involves facilitating access to both quality formal and informal education. This is achieved through the training of educators, the rehabilitation of school facilities, and the provision of one to one sponsorship and educational materials for children in need.

Additionally, we play a crucial role in addressing the health and nutritional requirements of children. Malnutrition and insufficient access to healthcare can significantly hinder a child's physical and cognitive growth. In response, DPO implements nutritional programs and vaccination initiatives to guarantee that children receive vital medical attention and nourishment.Another critical responsibility we assume is the protection of children from exploitation, abuse, and neglect. By reinforcing community structures, supporting families, and fostering child-friendly environments, we aim to create a sustainable and positive influence on children's lives. In times of crisis, such as natural disasters or conflicts, DPO is actively engaged in delivering emergency assistance to affected children and communities. Our prompt response ensures that children receive immediate aid, protection and support.

We're thrilled to announce that our recent semi-permanent latrines construction to conflict-affected (IDP) communities in Tigray region, Asgede woreda was a huge success!

As part of our Integrated Multi-Sectoral Emergency Support to Returnees in Tigray region, we have successfully completed the construction of four-stall semi-permanent latrines in four IDP sites of Northwest zone, Asgede woreda, following the rehabilitation of five hand pumps.

In addition, we have conducted vital hygiene promotion activities in the project area to ensure that the target communities can effectively and sustainably utilize the newly constructed WASH facilities. This initiative has also fostered the adoption of proper handwashing and environmental sanitation practices, thereby mitigating the risk of waterborne disease outbreaks.
We thank United Nations OCHA Ethiopia for the funding that made the support possible.
