Celebrating a Milestone in Community Resilience & GBV Prevention! 💜
On July 25, 2026, ELiDA hosted the closing workshop for the STAR (Supporting Transformative Action and Resilience) project at the Orbit Hotel in Kombolcha!
Over the past year, ELiDA and UEWCA—with vital support from the Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund (EHF)—worked side-by-side with local leaders across Raya Kobo, Habru, Lasta, and Bugna woredas in North Wollo to combat GBV and build lasting community strength.
From upgrading One-Stop Centers and creating Safe Spaces for women and girls, to providing dignity kits, direct cash support, survivor-centered case management, and the 9043 toll-free hotline, this initiative delivered life-changing care when it was needed most.
Most importantly, the impact doesn't end here. By training Community-Based Protection Mechanism (CBPM) committees and empowering local women-led structures, grassroots leadership is ready to keep this momentum going strong!

🚀 Become a Certified WPS Trainer: Apply for the WPS TOT Program 2026

The Empathy for Life Integrated Development Association (ELiDA), in partnership with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and the FDRE Ministry of Peace, is officially inviting highly qualified professionals and passionate peace advocates to apply for its Certified Training of Trainers (ToT) on Strategic Advocacy for Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) and National Action Plan (NAP) Implementation and Monitoring Skills.

This prestigious, residential 5-day program will build a premier pool of certified trainers who will serve as key national and regional resources to cascade WPS NAP implementation and monitoring skills across Ethiopia.

🎓 Eligibility Criteria:

- Education: Minimum Master's degree in any social science discipline. Priority will be given to candidates with relevant fields of study.

- Affiliation: Active membership or employment within a dynamic CSO, women-led group, youth-led organization, or network working on peacebuilding, gender equality, human rights, or advocacy initiatives.

- Experience: Proven experience in training facilitation, workshop coordination, stakeholder engagement, community mobilization, dialogues, or conflict mediation. Prior exposure to WPS or gender-responsive programming is highly advantageous.

- Commitment: Explicit dedication to actively cascade this training to local WPS actors and communities in your respective region.

- Language: Proficiency in English and at least one local language (Amharic, Afaan Oromoo, or Tigrigna).

- Diversity: Female candidates, young women leaders, women peace-builders, experts in peace and conflict studies, and individuals from marginalized or conflict-affected communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
