🌟 Her School is Her Future – Advocacy Forum Successfully Completed 🌟

On May 22- As part of the 18-month “Building a Bright Future for Girls’ Education” Project, supported by the Malala Fund, ELiDA Ethiopia successfully conducted the “Her School - Her Future” Advocacy Forum.

The project Implemented in Dessie Zuria and Tehuledere Woredas of South Wollo Zone, Amhara Region, across four high schools, the forum brought together education leaders, teachers, PTAs, religious leaders, community influencers, social media representatives, parents, and girls to strengthen collective action for girls’ education.

✨ The forum concluded with a shared commitment paper to champion girls’ education, ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to learn, succeed, and thrive.

✨ Together, we are building a future where every girl learns, leads, and shines.

No should miss school, lose confidence, or sacrifice her dignity because of menstruation.

Sanitary pads are a necessity — not a luxury.
It is time to make menstrual products tax-free and accessible for all .

Empowering girls starts with protecting their health, education, and dignity.

“Women’s voices are not just important to peace and security — they are essential.”

On May 15, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, regional position papers developed through Women Peace Forums held across Amhara, Oromia, and Tigray were officially submitted to strengthen Ethiopia’s Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda and accelerate the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) to NAP Technical Committee.

Convened under the Women Count for Peace Project, the engagement was led by ELiDA Ethiopia in partnership with Timran and ACDD, with support from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office through the British Embassy Addis Ababa.

The high-level program brought together key government institutions — including the Ministry of Peace, Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, Authority for Civil Society Organizations, and Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Council — alongside development partners and civil society actors to advance coordinated, inclusive, and women-led peacebuilding efforts across Ethiopia.

This moment marked more than a handover. It was a collective call to action: to ensure women are not only included in peace processes, but are leading and shaping them.
