3 Million Seedlings for a Greener Future – The Journey Continues 🌱

Buna Qela, in partnership with Kerchanshe Coffee, proudly continues the distribution of 3 million improved coffee seedlings, reaching more farming communities across the country.

Today, we marked another milestone in Burka Ibela, supporting sustainable coffee farming and empowering farmers with high-yield, climate-resilient varieties. This effort is part of our broader mission to uplift rural livelihoods and aligns with Ethiopia’s Green Legacy initiative.

Funded by 10% of Kerchanshe Group’s annual profit, this project is more than a donation — it’s a long-term investment in people, productivity, and the planet. 🌿

Through Buna Qela, our charitable arm funded by 10% of Kerchanshe’s annual profits, we proudly support the communities we serve with more than commerce — investing in lasting social impact.

Day 1 of Our 1 Million Coffee Seedling Distribution! 🌱
Today, Buna Qela, in collaboration with Kerchanshe Coffee, launched the first day of our Premium Fair Trade Responsibility program at Kochere and Bonde.

As part of our commitment to sustainable coffee farming and community development, 657 outgrowing and Kerchanshe Coffee member farmers began receiving their share of 1 million coffee seedlings — provided as both a donation and a member benefit. This impactful project is proudly funded through the 10% annual profit that Kerchanshe Group allocates to social development via Buna Qela.

More to come as we continue this large-scale distribution in the days ahead! 🌿

From home-brought chairs to fully furnished classrooms!

Thanks to the unwavering support of Kerchanshe group, the recent completion of Odda Nagele Primary School marks a transformative milestone for the community.

Before this, students had to bring chairs from home to sit in worn-out classrooms, and many walked countless kilometers just to attend school. Today, those challenges are history! The new school features fully furnished classrooms and brings education closer to home, making learning accessible and empowering the next generation.

This is more than just a building; it’s a symbol of opportunity, comfort, and growth for our young learners. Together with Kerchanshe group, we’re shaping a brighter future, we’re not stopping here. Our efforts continue to ensure even more children have access to quality education and better opportunities.

Mr. Gemechu Bekele, Manager of Bunaqela Charity Association, shares the incredible journey of building Odda Nagele Primary School. From overcoming challenges to exceeding expectations, this project has transformed education access for the community.

With a total investment of 12 million birr, the school now offers fully furnished classrooms, teacher residences, renovated facilities, toilets for improved hygiene, and donated Buna Pen supplies. We were deeply honored to welcome our beloved and visionary Prime Minister, Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali, and his esteemed cabinet to our Kerchanshe Gelana Gesha Coffee Farm in West Guji, Gelana district, Oda Negele Kebele. Their visit is a testament to the relentless hard work we are putting in for the brighter future of coffee in Ethiopia, Oromia, and the West Guji zone.

Our mission is to position Ethiopia not just as the origin of coffee but as a major coffee-producing nation on the global stage. By leveraging advanced technologies from Brazil and Israel, we are achieving unprecedented productivity and significantly reducing production costs. This year, we aim to elevate our coffee trade revenue to $2 billion, with remarkable progress already being made.

I am incredibly encouraged and energized to continue our efforts in the Ethiopian agriculture sector, improving and creating better capital for our nation. Ethiopia is a blessed land for agriculture, and with the right knowledge, expertise, and capital, we can transform our economy.

Your visit has filled us with renewed energy and determination to work harder, expand our findings, and maximize our volume. Despite the many challenges, your leadership always finds a way to overcome them. Thank you again for recognizing our work, challenges, and potential.

Buna Qela Charity Association is excited to share the successful implementation of a solar-powered submersible pump system in the Anfarara and Dole Kebeles of Adola Redde Woreda, East Guji Zone! With a total investment of 10,000,000.00 ETB, this project includes the installation of solar panels, accessories, and the pump itself. This initiative is more than a source of clean water, it’s a step toward sustainable community development and a brighter, healthier future for all.
