Something good happened today at Kebena House, Hill Top.

U-Report Ethiopia welcomed new joiners into the sub-steering committee, brought together youth voices around key agendas, and started mapping out what meaningful participation in COP32 can look like for young Ethiopians.

And since we were already at the top of a hill, we figured the ideas might as well match the altitude.

More energy.

Better coordination.

Louder voices.

UNICEF U-Report played a meaningful role in shaping the Addis Declaration on Peace, adopted during the Addis Forum 2025 policy dialogue.

Through Clause 7, the Declaration explicitly recognises digital tools, including U-Report Ethiopia, as important platforms for safe, inclusive, and meaningful youth engagement. This important inclusion was advanced through the engagement of Hiwot Gebeyehu, Social Policy Officer – LNOB (Youth Engagement and Child Rights), and Liban Hailu, UNICEF U-Report Youth Engagement Chair, whose contributions helped ensure that U-Report was reflected in the Declaration.

With the Declaration now endorsed by the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, this marks an important step in affirming that the youth voices must not only be invited but also heard and acted upon.

We remain committed to carrying this work forward because U-Report is more than a platform; it is a space where young people raise their voices, shape important conversations, and are heard on the issues that affect their lives.

This is exactly the kind of meaningful youth engagement we will continue to champion.

This aligns with the Addis Declaration on Peace from the Addis Forum 2025, which includes U-Report Ethiopia among the digital tools for safe and inclusive youth engagement.

AFCON 2025 reminded us what teamwork and resilience can achieve. Now Ethiopia’s youth are bringing that same energy to one of the most important “finals” of all: kicking out polio.

Following the strong youth kickoff on 17 January, we now move to the National Activation this Tuesday.

The U-Report Kick Out Polio campaign, led by UNICEF U-Report Ethiopia and powered by young people, football, and digital action, is here!

Launched nationally in Ethiopia and aligned with AFCON 2025 (21 Dec 2025–18 Jan 2026, Morocco), this high-energy campaign channels the passion for football to help accelerate polio eradication across Africa.

Together with የሴቶችና ማህበራዊ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, Ethiopian Football Federation, Addis Ababa City Administration Youth and Sport Bureau, Rotary and Rotaract, National PolioPlus Committee (NPPC) Ethiopia, EYDPA, Youth Network for Sustainable Development (YNSD), and the National Adolescent and Youth Health Council (NAYHC), we’re turning polio eradication into a championship final. Every young person is a Defender of Health! 🇪🇹💪

Introducing the Climate & Environment Impact Tracker, a tool created by U-Report and Generation Unlimited and part of UNICEF’s Green Rising initiative to support youth-led climate action.

We are taking action to protect every child from polio through the Kick Out Polio Challenge.
It’s simple: place a bottle 2 meters away and kick a football to knock it down.

Move it further, 4m, 6m, or more, and film your best shot. Then, tag a friend, a leader, or a public figure to take the challenge next.

This fun challenge turns action into impact: when shared widely, it raises awareness, mobilizes communities, and supports life-saving public health efforts.
