3, Multi-billion-dollar commitments mobilized to support locally-led climate action across the continent.

𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗖𝗦𝟮 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘀 𝗔𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗮: 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗮𝘂𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲.

At the opening of the Second Africa Climate Summit, 𝗛.𝗘. 𝗔𝗯𝗶𝘆 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗶 (𝗣𝗵.𝗗), Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, delivered the inaugural keynote and officially declared ACS2 open.

❝Ethiopia’s Green Legacy has cooled our land and restored our soil; the 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗺 powering a clean, shared future and driving Pan-African regional integration for a greener future. As COP30 approaches, Africa must stand not as a bloc of negotiators but as a continent of solutions. We call for real investment, not charity, and 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗯𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗢𝗣𝟯𝟮 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳.❞

𝗛.𝗘. 𝗔𝗯𝗶𝘆 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗶, reaffirming Africa’s resolve and formally presenting Ethiopia’s bid to host COP 32.

The Prime Minister has also proposed to establish the "Africa Climate Innovation Compact that aims to produce 1000 innovators by 2030 and to be financed and owned by Africans and implement it in partnership with partners".

The Second Africa Climate Summit is hosted by the Government of Ethiopia in collaboration with the African Union Commission under the theme: ❝𝘼𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙂𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙡 𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙎𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨: 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘼𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖’𝙨 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩.❞ The Summit runs 8–10 September 2025 at the Addis International Convention Center (AICC) in Addis Ababa.
