📢 GBV Protection and Reporting Mechanism Training Conducted at Abune Baslios General Secondary School

Faith in Action (FIA) successfully conducted a training on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Protection and Reporting Mechanisms for the school community at Abune Baslios General Secondary School.

The training aimed to raise awareness on different forms of GBV, strengthen understanding of reporting procedures, and promote a safe, inclusive, and protective learning environment for all students. Participants gained valuable knowledge on prevention, reporting pathways, survivor-centered approaches, and the collective role of students, teachers, parents, and community members in addressing GBV.

By strengthening awareness and reporting mechanisms, we are taking an important step toward ensuring that every child can learn in a safe and supportive environment free from violence, abuse, and discrimination.

Together, we can create safer schools and stronger communities.

Empowering Students Through Knowledge and Awareness

As part of the "Empower Her Project", funded by Brot, Faith in Action conducted a training session on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention, and reporting mechanisms for students.

The training aimed to increase students' awareness of their sexual and reproductive health rights, strengthen their understanding of GBV prevention, and provide information on available reporting channels and support services. Through interactive discussions and practical learning sessions, participants gained valuable knowledge and skills to protect themselves and support their peers.

By equipping young people with accurate information and safe reporting pathways, the Empower Her Project continues to foster safer, healthier, and more inclusive learning environments for girls and boys.

Empowering adolescent girls through skills

As part of the "Adolescent Girls Power Building Project" funded by CRVPF, Faith in Action successfully conducted sanitary pad making and handcraft training for adolescent girls.

The training aimed to equip participants with practical skills that promote menstrual hygiene management, creativity, self-confidence, and economic empowerment. Through these sessions, girls gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience that can help improve their daily lives and future opportunities.

Project Launching Event

Faith in Action (FIA) successfully launched the project entitled:

“Empowering Local Communities for the Conservation and Restoration of Threatened Ecosystems in Adami Tulu Jido Kombolcha Woreda, East Shewa Zone, Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia.”

The launching workshop was held on May 5, 2026, at Bethlehem Hotel, Batu, bringing together key stakeholders, community representatives, government offices, and community leaders to officially commence this important initiative.

The project aims to empower local communities through ecosystem conservation and restoration efforts, promoting environmental sustainability, resilience, and community participation in protecting threatened natural resources.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all participants who attended and contributed to the successful launch of the project.

Delivering Essential Support to Conflict-Affected Communities

As part of our “Integrated Lifesaving Response to Malnutrition and Public Health Needs through Health, Nutrition, WASH, and Agriculture Support for Conflict-Affected Peoples in West Belesa and Kinfaz Begela Woredas” project, Faith in Action (FIA) successfully distributed WASH Non-Food Items (NFI) and dignity kits to 500 individuals.

Supporting Girls’ Dignity and Wellbeing

As part of our “Empower Her” project, Faith in Action (FIA) successfully carried out the first-round distribution of sanitary pads to 100 girls at Abune Basliyos Secondary School.

This initiative aims to:
1. Promote menstrual hygiene and dignity
2. Support girls to stay in school with confidence
3. Reduce barriers to education for vulnerable students

By addressing menstrual health needs, we are taking an important step toward empowering girls and ensuring they can continue their education without interruption.
