Turning Partnerships into Progress: Advancing a Sustainable Future for Borana ‼️

From expanding access to education and healthcare to bringing sustainable water solutions closer to communities, meaningful change happens when partners unite around a shared vision.

SCORE proudly welcomed a delegation from Caritas Austria, alongside Borana Gadaa leaders and Hibret Alliance partners-SOS Children’s Villages and Helvetas Switzerland-for a donor monitoring visit to review progress, showcase key achievements, and witness the collective efforts contributing to the well-being of the Borana community.

During the visit, the delegation toured Yabello Girls’ and Boys’ Hostels, the newly established Spiritan School, and Dhoqolee and Dhadim Mission Schools, observing progress in education, healthcare services, and community outreach activities.

A Major Milestone: Dhadim Solar-Powered Borehole Water Supply System!

A key highlight was the completed Dhadim Solar-Powered Borehole Water Supply System, designed to serve the mission school, health clinic, and surrounding communities. This important investment is expected to improve access to reliable water, strengthen hygiene and sanitation, and create healthier environments for learning, healthcare, and community life through a sustainable, solar-powered solution.

The visit underscored the importance of strong partnerships, community leadership, and integrated development in delivering lasting change. By strengthening access to education, healthcare, and safe water, these collaborative efforts are helping address community needs, build resilience, and lay the foundation for a healthier and more sustainable future for the people of Borana.

የማህበረ መንፈስ ቅዱስ ማህበረሰብ አገልግሎት በኢትዮጵያ (SCORE)፣ በቦረና የተቀናጀ የማህበረሰብ ልማት ፕሮጀክት (BICDP ምዕራፍ III) አማካኝነት፣ ዘላቂ ልማትን ለማስፋፋት እና የተጎዱ ማህበረሰቦችን ደህንነት ለማሻሻል ከማህበረሰቦች እና ከአካባቢው ባለድርሻ አካላት ጋር አብሮ መስራቱን ቀጥሏል።

በቅርቡ፣ የፕሮጀክቱን እድገት፣ የተተገበሩ ተግባራትን ጥራት እና ተፅእኖ ለመገምገም፣ እንዲሁም በአራቱ የትኩረት መስኮች፣ በኑሮ ማሻሻያ ልማት፣ በትምህርት፣ በማህበረሰብ አቀፍ የጤና እንክብካቤ እና በሰላም ግንባታ፣ የተመዘገቡ ዋና ዋና ስኬቶችን ለመመልከት በዱብሉቅ እና ኤልወያ ወረዳዎች በለጋሽ ድርጅት ተወካይ የክትትል ጉብኝት በተሳካ ሁኔታ ተካሂዷል።

በመስክ ምልከታዎች እንዲሁም ከአካባቢው የመንግስት ተወካዮች እና የማህበረሰብ አባላት ጋር በተደረጉ ውይይቶች፣ ጉብኝቱ የፕሮጀክቱን አተገባበር እና የሰዎችን ኑሮ በማጠናከር፣ መሰረታዊ የማህበራዊ አገልግሎቶች ተደራሽነትን በማሻሻል፣ የማህበረሰቡን የመቋቋም አቅም በመገንባት እና ሰላማዊ አብሮ መኖርን በማስፋፋት በኩል ፕሮጀክቱ ያለውን አስተዋፅኦ በተመለከተ ጠቃሚ ግንዛቤዎችን ሰጥቷል። የለጋሽ ድርጅት ተወካይ በፕሮጀክቱ ስኬቶች እና በታለመላቸው ማህበረሰቦች ላይ ባሳደረው በጎ ተፅእኖ ላይ ያለውን ከፍተኛ አድናቆት ገልፀዋል።

SCORE ላደረጉት የማይተካ ድጋፍ እና ላሳዩት ቀጣይነት ያለው አጋርነት ለ 'Land Salzburg' እና 'sei so frei'፣ በ 'HORIZONT3000' በኩል ላቀረቡት ድጋፍ የላቀ ምስጋናውን ያቀርባል። ይህ ትብብር በማህበረሰቦች ህይወት ውስጥ ትርጉም ያለው እና ዘላቂ ለውጥ ለማምጣት አብሮ መስራት ያለውን ሀይል ያሳያል።

ጉብኝቱ በ SCORE፣ በለጋሽ አጋሮች፣ በመንግስት ባለድርሻ አካላት እና በአካባቢው ማህበረሰቦች መካከል ያለውን ቀጣይነት ያለው ትብብር አስፈላጊነት እንደገና ያረጋገጠ ሲሆን፣ ይህም የተመዘገቡ እድገቶችን ለማጠናከር እና ዘላቂ ተፅእኖን ለማረጋገጥ ይረዳል።

Strengthening Communities, Celebrating Progress, and Building Resilience in Borana!

SCORE Borana Area Office | BICDP Phase III

Spiritan Community Outreach Ethiopia (SCORE), through its Borana Integrated Community Development Project (BICDP Phase III), continues to work alongside communities and local stakeholders to promote sustainable development and improve the well-being of vulnerable communities.

Recently, a donor monitoring visit was successfully conducted in Dubuluk and Eleweya districts to review project progress, assess the quality and impact of implemented activities, and highlight key achievements across four thematic areas: livelihood development, education, community-based health care, and peacebuilding.

Through field observations and discussions with local government representatives and community members, the visit provided valuable insights into the project's implementation and its contribution to strengthening livelihoods, improving access to essential social services, building community resilience, and promoting peaceful coexistence. The donor expressed strong appreciation for the project's achievements and positive impact on the target communities.

SCORE extends its sincere gratitude to Land Salzburg and sei so frei, through HORIZONT3000, for their invaluable support and continued partnership. This collaboration demonstrates the power of working together to create meaningful, lasting change in the lives of communities.

The visit also reaffirmed the importance of sustained collaboration among SCORE, donor partners, government stakeholders, and local communities to build on progress and ensure long-term impact.

ዛሬ፣ SCORE ተማሪዎችን የሚያነሳሱ፣ አቅምን የሚያጎለብቱ፣ እንዲሁም የበለጠ ጠንካራ እና ተቋቋሚ ማህበረሰቦችን ለመገንባት አስተዋፅዖ የሚያደርጉትን ቁርጠኛ ሴት እና ወንድ መምህራንን ያከብራል።

ለ SCORE፣ መምህራን እና ትምህርት ቤቶች ከክፍል ውስጥ ትምህርት ባለፈ ትልቅ ሚና አላቸው። በትምህርት ቤት ማዕከልነት በሚከናወኑ አካታች የማህበረሰብ ልማት (SICD) ፕሮጀክቶቻችን አማካኝነት ትምህርት ቤቶች ለአካታች የማህበረሰብ ልማት፣ እንደ መግብያ በር እና መሰብሰቢያ ማዕከል ሆነው ያገለግላሉ። ይህም ተማሪዎችን፣ መምህራንን፣ ወላጆችን፣ የማህበረሰብ አባላትን፣ መሪዎችን እና ሌሎችንም ባለድርሻ አካላት በአንድ ላይ ያገናኛል።

በትምህርት ቤት ማዕከልነት የሚከናወኑ ሁሉን አቀፍ የማህበረሰብ ልማት ፕሮጀክቶች፣ (SICD) Approach/ አቀራረብ ማለት የልማት እንቅስቃሴዎቻችን በትምህርት ቤቶች ብቻ የተወሰኑ ናቸው ማለት አይደለም። ይልቁንም ትምህርት ቤቶች ሰፊ የማህበረሰብ ቅድመ-አስፈላጊነቶች እና እድሎች የሚዳሰሱባቸውም መድረኮች ሆነው ያገለግላሉ። እነዚህም በዕቀባ እርሻ (conservation agriculture)፣ የሴቶች ማብቃት፣ የኑሮ ማሻሸያ ስራዎች (Livelihoods)፣ የውሃ፣ ጽዳትና ንፅህና (WASH)፣ ለአካባቢ ጥበቃ፣ የምግብ ዋስትና፣ ትምህርት እና ሌሎች የማህበረሰብ ልማት ጥረቶች ላይም ትኩረት የሚያደርጉ ሊሆኑ ይችላሉ።

የዚህ approach/ አቀራረብ ማዕከል፣ መምህራን ናቸው፤ መምህራን የማህበረሰባቸው የታመኑ አባላት እንዲሁም በትምህርት ቤቶች፣ በቤተሰቦች እና በሰፊው ማህበረሰብ መካከል ያሉ አስፈላጊ ድልድዮች ናቸው።

ዛሬ፣ መምህራን ለሚያካፍሉት እውቀት፣ ለሚያንፁት እሴት፣ እንዲሁም አካታች፣ የበቁ እና ተቋቋሚ ማህበረሰቦችን ለመገንባት ለሚያደርጉት አስተዋፅኦ እውቅና እንሰጣለን፣ እናመሰግናቸዋለንም።

ትምህርት ቤቶች ማህበረሰቦችን ያገናኛሉ። መምህራን ለውጥን ያነሳሳሉ። በአንድነት ማህበረሰቦች ይለወጣሉ።

Happy World Teachers’ Day 2026!

Today, SCORE celebrates teachers; the dedicated women and men who inspire learners, nurture potential, and contribute to stronger and more resilient communities.

For SCORE, teachers and schools have an important role beyond the classroom. Through our School-Centered Inclusive Community Development (SICD) approach, schools serve as entry points and gathering places for inclusive community development; bringing together learners, teachers, parents, community members, leaders, and other stakeholders.

The SICD approach does not mean that development activities are limited to schools. Rather, the school provides a platform from which broader community priorities and opportunities can be addressed. These may include conservation agriculture, women’s empowerment, livelihoods, WASH, environmental protection, food security, education, and other community development initiatives.

At the centre of this approach are teachers, who are trusted members of their communities and important bridges between schools, families, and the wider community.

Today, we recognize and appreciate teachers for the knowledge they share, the values they nurture, and their contribution to building inclusive, empowered, and resilient communities.

Schools connect communities. Teachers inspire change. Together, communities transform.

ትምህርት ለለውጥ፡- የመንፈስ ቅዱስ ማህበር ሚሶናዊያን በያቤሎ አዲስ የመጀመሪያ ደረጃ ትምህርት ቤት ከፈቱ ‼️

ያቤሎ፣ ቦረና፣ ኦሮሚያ ክልል፣ ኢትዮጵያ | መስከረም 20 ቀን 2019 ዓ.ም. (September 30, 2026)

በያቤሎ፣ ቦረና (በኦሮሚያ ክልላዊ መንግሥት በደቡብ ኦሮሚያ ዞን) የመንፈስ ቅዱስ ማህበር የመጀመሪያ ደረጃ ትምህርት ቤት በመክፈቱ፣ በትምህርት ዘርፍ የሚያደርገው አገልግሎት አዲስ ምዕራፍ ጀምሯል።

መስከረም 20 ቀን 2019 ዓ.ም. ትምህርት ቤቱ የመጀመሪያዎቹን ተማሪዎች የተቀበለ ሲሆን፣ ይህም ለቦረና አካባቢ ማህበረሰብ ህፃናት የአዲስ የመማር፣ የእድገት እና የለውጥ ጉዞ ጅምር ሆኗል።

በቦረና አካባቢ በሚያገለግሉት በመንፈስ ቅዱስ ማህበር ሚሲዮናዊው በአባት ዴኒስ ሙጋሉላ (Fr. Denis Mugalula, CSSp) አነሳሽነት የተመሰረተው ይህ ትምህርት ቤት፣ የቅድመ-መደበኛ እና የመጀመሪያ ደረጃ ትምህርት ከፍተኛ ፍላጎት ባለበት አካባቢ ለህፃናት ጥራት ያለው እና ሁለገብ ትምህርት ማዳረስን ለማስፋፋት ያለመ ነው።

ከክፍል ውጪ የሚሻገር ትምህርት!

“ትምህርት ለለውጥ” በሚለው አነቃቂ መሪ ቃሉ የሚመራው ትምህርት ቤቱ፣ ከአካዳሚክ ትምህርት ባለፈ ትኩረት ይሰጣል። ህፃናትን በተግባራዊ ክህሎት፣ በስነ-ምግባር፣ በሞራል እሴቶች እና ለማህበረሰባቸው ሀላፊነት የሚሰማቸውና አምራች ዜጎች እንዲሆኑ ጠንካራ መሰረት ለመጣል ያለመ ነው።

ትምህርት ቤቱ የመጀመሪያውን የትምህርት ዘመን በከፍተኛ ኪንደርጋርተን (Upper Kindergarten) እና በአንደኛ ክፍል ጀምሯል። አዲስ የተገነባው የመጀመሪያው መሰረተ ልማት ሶስት የመማሪያ ክፍሎችን፣ የDirecting/መስተዳድር ቢሮዎችን፣ የምግብ መመገቢያ ቦታ እና መጸዳጃ ቤቶችን ያካተተ ሲሆን፣ ለወጣት ተማሪዎች ደህንነቱ የተጠበቀ እና ምቹ አካባቢን ይፈጥራል።

የተማሪዎች ቁጥር እየጨመረ እና ተጨማሪ ክፍሎች እየተከፈቱ ሲሄዱ፣ ትምህርት ቤቱ ተጨማሪ የመማሪያ ክፍሎችን፣ የምግብ መመገቢያ አዳራሽ፣ ቤተ-መጽሐፍት፣ የICT ክፍል፣ የትምህርት ቤት ባስ እና ሌሎችንም አስፈላጊ የትምህርት መሰረተ ልማቶችን ጨምሮ ተጨማሪ ቁሳቁሶችን እና የመማሪያ ሀብቶችን ይፈልጋል።

ስለሆነም የመንፈስ ቅዱስ ማህበር፣ በጎ አድራጊዎችን፣ ለጋሾችን፣ የተልዕኮ አጋሮችን እና የማህበሩ ወዳጆችን የዚህን አስፈላጊ የትምህርት አገልግሎት በመገንባት ሂደት በጋራ ለመስራት እንዲቀላቀሉ ይጋብዛል።

በትምህርት መሰረተ ልማት፣ በመማሪያ ቁሳቁሶች እና በሌሎች አስፈላጊ ነገሮች ላይ የሚደረግ ማንኛውም አስተዋጽኦ ለህፃናት የተሻሉ እድሎችን ለመፍጠር እና ለቦረና ማህበረሰብ የረጅም ጊዜ ልማት አስተዋጽኦ ያደርጋል።

ትምህርት ግለሰቦችን ይለውጣል።

ተለውጠው የወጡ ግለሰቦች ማህበረሰብን ያጠናክራሉ።

በአንድነት በመሆን ለቦረና ህፃናት ብሩህ ተስፋ ኢንቨስት ማድረግ እንችላለን።

Education for Transformation: Spiritan Missionaries Open New Primary School in Yabello ‼️

YABELLO, BORANA, OROMIA REGION, ETHIOPIA | 30 September 2026

A new chapter in the educational mission of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (Spiritans) has begun in Yabello, Borana (South Oromia Zone of the Oromia Regional State), with the opening of the Spiritan Primary School.

On 30 September 2026, the school welcomed its first pupils, marking the beginning of a new journey of learning, growth, and transformation for children in the Borana community.

Founded at the initiative of Fr. Denis Mugalula, CSSp, a Spiritan missionary serving in the Borana area, the school seeks to contribute to expanding access to quality and holistic education for children in an area where access to early childhood and primary education remains an important need.

Education Beyond the Classroom!

Guided by its inspiring motto, “Education for Transformation,” the school aims to go beyond academic learning. It seeks to nurture children with practical skills, discipline, moral values, confidence, and a strong foundation for becoming responsible and productive members of their communities.

The school has started its first academic year with Upper Kindergarten and Grade One. Its newly constructed initial facility includes three classrooms, administrative offices, a dining area, and toilets, providing a safe and supportive environment for young learners.

Building for the Future! This is only the beginning.

As enrolment grows and additional grades are introduced, the school will need further facilities and learning resources, including additional classrooms, a dedicated dining hall, library, ICT room, school bus, and other essential educational infrastructure.

The Spiritans are therefore inviting benefactors, donors, mission partners, and friends of the Congregation to join them in building the future of this important educational ministry.

Every contribution toward educational infrastructure, learning materials, and other essential facilities can help create greater opportunities for children and contribute to the long-term development of the Borana community.

በኢትዮጵያ እና በኬንያ መካከል ባሉ የጋራ ድንበር ተሻጋሪ ቅድሚያ የሚሰጣቸውን ጉዳዮች ላይ ትብብርን ለማጠናከር በሞያሌ ሲካሄድ የሰነበተው ድንበር ተሻጋሪ መድረክ ዛሬ ከሰዓት በኋላ በስኬት ተጠናቋል።

Forum Concludes in Moyale, Ethiopia 🇪🇹🇰🇪

The cross-border forum held in Moyale has successfully concluded this afternoon, bringing together stakeholders from Ethiopia and Kenya to strengthen cooperation around shared cross-border priorities.

Today’s session focused on group discussions, where participants from both sides reflected on key cross-border challenges, explored possible mitigation measures, and discussed practical ways forward through stronger coordination and collaboration.

The forum provided a valuable platform for experience sharing, dialogue, networking and collective reflection, while highlighting the importance of working together to promote peace, sustainable use of shared natural resources, resilient pastoral communities and stronger cross-border cooperation.

Spiritan Community Outreach Ethiopia (SCORE) was pleased to participate and share its experience through the BBOLD (Border-Based Bonding on Long-Term Development) Platform, contributing to the collective effort to build stronger bridges across the Ethiopia–Kenya border.

የድንበር አቅራቢያ ማህበረሰቦች የተፈጥሮ ሀብቶችን፣ የህይወት እሴቶችን፣ ገበያዎችን፣ ባህሎችን እንዲሁም ወጥ የሆኑ ፈተናዎችን ይጋራሉ። በመሆኑም እንደ ሰላምና ደህንነት፣ የአርብቶ አደሮች እንቅስቃሴ፣ የምግብ ዋስትና፣ የአየር ንብረት ተፅዕኖዎች እና ዘላቂ የተፈጥሮ ሀብት አስተዳደር ያሉ ጉዳዮች የተቀናጀና የጋራ ምላሽን ይፈልጋሉ።

SCORE Team Shares Experience on Cross-Border Cooperation through the BBOLD Platform ‼️

The Spiritan Community Outreach Ethiopia (SCORE) team is participating in the ongoing cross-border forum in Moyale, presenting its experience and learning on BBOLD - Border Based Bonding on Long-term Development platform.

The session highlights the background, rationale and importance of BBOLD in strengthening collaboration among communities and stakeholders across the Ethiopia–Kenya border.

Borderland communities share natural resources, livelihoods, markets, cultures and common challenges. Issues such as peace and security, pastoral mobility, food security, climate pressures and sustainable natural-resource management therefore require collective and coordinated action.

BBOLD brings together local actors, government, civil society, research institutions and development partners to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships and promote locally led solutions.

Through BBOLD, SCORE contributes to stronger cross-border cooperation, peaceful coexistence, community resilience and sustainable development.

አሁን በሞያሌ፣ ኢትዮጵያ በመካሄድ ላይ ያለ 🇪🇹

የድንበር ተሻጋሪ የአርብቶ አደር ማህበረሰብ-አቀፍ ድርጅቶች (CBOs) አውታረ መረብ ምስረታ እና በጋራ ተፈጥሮ ሀብቶች ሰላማዊና ዘላቂ አጠቃቀም ላይ ያተኮረ መድረክ ከሴፕቴምበር 22 እስከ 24 ቀን 2026 እ.ኤ.አ. (መስከረም 12 - 14 ቀን 2019 ዓ.ም.) በሞያሌ፣ ኢትዮጵያ በመካሄድ ላይ ይገኛል።

በኤ.ኤፍ.ዲ (AFD) እና ፓሲዳ (PACIDA) አዘጋጅነት ከዌልት ሀንገር ሂልፌ (WHH) ጋር በመተባበር በኤስ.አር.ኤ.ፒ.ኤል.ኢ.ኤ III (SRAPLEA III) ፕሮጀክት ስር የተዘጋጀው ይህ መድረክ፤ የአርብቶ አደር ማህበረሰቦችን፣ የማህበረሰብ-አቀፍ ድርጅቶችን (CBOs) እና የልማት ባለድርሻ አካላትን በማገናኘት ትብብርን ለማጠናከር፣ ሰላምን ለማስፈን እና የጋራ ተፈጥሮ ሀብቶችን ዘላቂ አጠቃቀም ለማስፋፋት ያለመ ነው።

የማህበረ መንፈስ ቅዱስ ማህበረሰብ አገልግሎት በኢትዮጵያ (SCORE) በዚህ አስፈላጊ መድረክ ላይ በመሳተፍ፣ በአርብቶ አደር ማህበረሰቦች መካከል ለሰላማዊ አብሮ መኖር፣ ለፅናት እና ለዘላቂ ልማት በሚደረገው የጋራ ጥረትና ውይይት ላይ የበኩሉን ድርሻ እየተወጣ ይገኛል።

The Establishment of Cross-border Network of Pastoral CBOs and Forum on the Peaceful and Sustainable Use of Shared Natural Resources is currently taking place in Moyale, Ethiopia, from 22–24 September 2026.

The forum, organized by AFD and PACIDA in partnership with Welthungerhilfe under the SRAPLEA III initiative, brings together pastoralist communities, CBOs and development actors to strengthen collaboration, promote peace, and advance the sustainable use of shared natural resources.

Spiritan Community Outreach Ethiopia (SCORE) is also taking part in this important forum, contributing to the dialogue and collective efforts toward peaceful coexistence, resilience, and sustainable development among pastoralist communities.
