OWDA and IGAD together with National and Regional Government Authorities have launched Lot 1 IGAD Regional Migration Fund (RMF) project. The project is Funded by the German Government through KfW Development Bank, and is implementing IGAD in partnership with OWDA to support inclusive and sustainable development of basic services in Tog-Wajale City and the surrounding cross-border communities.
The project is designed to complement ongoing government efforts by improving socio-economic infrastructure and expanding access to essential community services. Key interventions include the construction of a Community Development Center, establishment of a skills training center, development of recreation and sports facilities, and creation of social and community gathering spaces. These interventions aim to strengthen local infrastructure, improve livelihood opportunities, promote social cohesion, and enhance resilience among host communities, migrants, refugees, women, and youth.
In addition, the project will support other strategic socio-economic investments, such as market center development and water supply improvements, reflecting a strong shared commitment to sustainable development, community empowerment, peaceful coexistence, and regional stability through inclusive participation and partnership.
