Right now, my son and I are living in a situation where we have no permanent place to call our own. As a mother, my biggest heartbreak is not being able to provide him with a stable home—a place where he can grow up without the fear of us having to move again or being unable to pay the rent.My parental leave ends this May, and I am at a crossroads. I can return to a minimum wage job that will never be enough to save for a home, or I can build something of my own.
