Introducing CHERISH (Cloud for HERitage – Image Sector Hub) which has been selected as one of just 20 successful projects funded through the ECHOES Cascading Grants Call.

Led jointly by CEPIC and PhotoConsortium, CHERISH is a 15-month European initiative dedicated to supporting the digital transformation of the photographic and image heritage sector.

Across Europe, countless archives, photo libraries and press agencies are preserving our visual history. Yet many organisations continue to face challenges in adopting emerging technologies such as AI, Extended Reality (XR) and cloud-based tools. CHERISH will help bridge that gap through research, multilingual guidance, webinars, workshops and a sector-wide survey designed to better understand the needs of image heritage professionals.

By strengthening digital skills, encouraging collaboration and connecting institutions with the opportunities offered by the Cultural Heritage Cloud (ECCCH) being developed by ECHOES, CHERISH aims to help ensure that Europe's photographic heritage remains accessible, resilient and ready for the future.

As project coordinator Sylvie Fodor explains: "Cultural institutions should cherish their unique photographic assets, while gaining access to advanced, affordable cloud resources and tools that enhance their preservation and curation role."

📌 CHERISH will conduct a major survey amongst heritage collection professionals and based on its results deliver multilingual users’ guidelines and conduct a series of webinars and training workshops. The ultimate goal is to increase awareness of ECHOES tools and services, strengthen digital competencies, improve professional practices, and foster collaboration across Europe's image heritage sector.

We're proud to announce that Provenancefortrust is officially open and available to try - a platform built to help the media industry authenticate the origin, authorship, and AI-use disclosure of every piece of content published.

AI-generated content is flooding our information ecosystems. Disinformation now operates at industrial scale.

‍Provenancefortrust helps:

• Authenticate the origin of your content
• Protect your content with rights embedded from day one
• Resolve doubts about the provenance of images, videos, and audio files

This platform is the result of six organisations across journalism, technology, and academic research joining forces: Journalism Trust Initiative, UncovAI, TrustMyContent, L'Atelier, CEPIC, and Sciences Po MediaLab - supported by the Ministère de la Culture. The platform is open.

The era of verifiable content starts today.

Please join us in welcoming our newest CEPIC member, SASHA!

Based in Denmark, SASHA is building the infrastructure for safer image sharing. Their innovative image provenance technology embeds a hidden digital signature directly into every image, creating a permanent, verifiable record of its origin and ownership that remains intact even if the image is cropped, edited or shared.

For picture agencies and rights holders, that means greater confidence in protecting intellectual property, stronger licensing enforcement, and a trusted evidentiary chain when images are used without permission.

We're delighted to have SASHA join our growing community and look forward to working together to support and strengthen the visual media industry.

Please join us in giving them a very warm CEPIC welcome!

The proposed $3.7 billion merger between Getty Images and Shutterstock will not proceed. Getty Images has announced that it will terminate the deal after the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) required Shutterstock to sell its editorial business as a condition of approving the merger.

Getty's Board unanimously decided that proceeding on those terms was not an acceptable option.

The merger, first announced in January 2025, would have brought together two of the world's largest licensed visual content companies in a deal widely seen as a response to the rapidly evolving visual content market.
