📢 Call for Papers – Journal of Sustainable Tourism
We are excited to announce a new Special Issue focused on Tourism and Political Consumption: Philosophies, Practices and Policies.

Tourism is no longer just about leisure—it’s increasingly entangled with political and ethical concerns. From destination boycotts to solidarity travel, tourism is now a tool for civic and moral expression. But what are the consequences, contradictions, and exclusions of this shift?

This issue invites critical, grounded, and forward-looking contributions that explore how tourism becomes a space of ethical struggle, symbolic resistance, and contested power.

We are particularly interested in research that moves beyond individual behavior to examine structural dynamics—exploring who gets to consume ethically, who gets left out, and what these practices actually achieve.

📌 Guest Editors: Siamak Seyfi and C. Michael Hall

This is an opportunity to shape the direction of research and debate at the intersection of tourism, activism, ethics, and inequality.

Trabajando con el GAD de Cotacachi

😁🤝 Se fortalece a Pueblo Mágico.

👉 El Ministerio de Turismo representado por la Directora de Productos y Destinos, Ing. Verónica Muñoz, la Ing Johana Sánchez y el Arq Felipe Orquera técnico de la Coordinación Zonal 1, recorrieron la ruta de la música, visitaron el Mercado Jatuk Cem y el Museo de las Culturas, para conocer las acciones realizadas en función de las declaratorias de Cotacachi Pueblo Mágico y Mercado Gastronómico.

☺️ Socializamos las acciones más importantes como la actualización del plan de turismo de Cotacachi con el apoyo de Berta Polo voluntaria de Fons Valencia, instalación de señalética en atractivos, parroquias y comunidades que cuentan con potencial turístico, creación participativa de la Marca Destino, levantamiento y jerarquización de sitios turísticos y elaboración de la guía de turismo.

We’re the Global Alliance for the Protection of Boys from Sexual Violence, but we’re also working to:
1️⃣ Support actions against gender-based violence
2️⃣ Dismantle patriarchal systems that fuel violence
3️⃣ Challenge rigid gender norms that harm girls, boys, and gender-diverse children
4️⃣ Support community-led efforts to make change from the ground up

Why? Because to end violence against all children, we must tackle the systems that enable it. All forms of violence are interconnected, and real protection leaves no one out.

There is an urgent need to boost the skills of older workers.

They often have significantly lower literacy and problem-solving skills than younger workers. Only a third of adults aged 55-65 years old participated in training in 2023, compared to over half of those aged 25-44.
