2026 - Salvador Sánchez Benefit Concert

One grand piano, one pianist, and a room that fell silent. On Saturday 27 June, Salvador Sánchez took the stage at the Auditòrium Sa Màniga in Cala Millor.

On the programme: Goyescas by Enrique Granados, six movements of romantic, dramatic Spanish piano music, followed by El Pelele. From the very first note, the hall went completely quiet. An intensity that held you to your seat until the final chord.

It was, quite simply, fantastic.

And it was all for a reason. Every ticket supported APROSCOM, the Manacor foundation that has stood beside people with intellectual disabilities and their families since 1976.

But our musical summer is far from over. On Saturday 8 August we return with the Hard Bop Drivers, open air jazz under the stars at the Esglesia Nova in Son Servera, at 21:00. Once again in aid of APROSCOM. Mark your calendar.

Thank you to Salvador for an unforgettable evening, and to everyone who came.

2026 - A Visit from Rotary Club of Shanghai

One of the best things about Rotary: wherever you go, there is always a club ready to welcome you. Last Wednesday we welcomed Dr Ioana Kraft, a Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Shanghai, who dropped by RCEMI together with her partner.

As tradition has it, we exchanged club pennants. Past President Geoff Moore handed over the East Mallorca International pennant, Ioana the one from Shanghai. Thousands of kilometres between the two clubs, and yet the same feeling straight away. The Shanghai pennant now hangs on our staircase railing, among clubs from all over the world.

And that goes for you too. Are you on Mallorca? Come and visit RCEMI. Rotarian or not, send us a message and join us. Friendship without borders, that is what Rotary is all about.

2026 - Handover Dinner

Every Rotary year has one evening when the presidency changes hands. On Wednesday 24 June, the club gathered at Saco’s cooking - Jaume Servera in Son Servera for the Handover Dinner.

Outgoing President Geoff Moore looked back on a year full of events, friendship and Service Above Self. He then passed the baton to our new President, Conny Scott, who will lead the club in the year ahead under the theme Unite for Good.

There was also a special moment: Sue Worthington received a Lifetime Honorary Membership, a tribute to everything she has meant to the club.

Great food, thank you Jaume! Warm words and a club photo with the presidential pennant. Exactly how a handover should be.

Thank you Geoff for the past year, and every success to Conny for the year to come.

2026 - A Day with Our Becarios

With Rotary you never quite know how a day will end. It usually starts with a plan, and somewhere along the way the plan happily falls apart.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of spending the day with a lively group of becarios, young scholarship students from Mexico and the United States who are spending time on the island. They arrived by train from Petra, and we picked them up at the Manacor train station. From the very first moment there was plenty to talk about and plenty to learn about what everyone is working on.

One of our club members and chaperones had brought along his 23-year-old daughter, and that instantly made everything more fun. Suddenly there was someone of exactly their own age at the table, and it lifted the whole mood to a higher, cooler level.

From there we headed to the Rafa Nadal Museum. Not the sit-and-look kind of place, but an active museum, where you can measure your own fitness and reaction speed and compare it, with a healthy dose of humility, to Rafa Nadal himself. There was plenty of laughter as we discovered exactly how far we all are from a Grand Slam.

And because the company was simply too good to call it a day, we did what Rotary people tend to do. We changed the plan. Completely unplanned, we drove on to Palma for a long table, a proper meal and a lot of stories. We may also have pointed them toward the best cocktail bar on the island, purely in the interest of cultural education, of course.

What stays with us is not the museum or the menu. It is the exchange. Sitting down with young people from the other side of the world, hearing what drives them, what they study and what they dream about, and sharing a piece of our own corner of Mallorca in return. That is what these days are really about, and it is exactly why the unexpected ones so often turn out to be the best ones.

Until the next plan we get to happily ruin.

2026 - Pennant Exchange with RC Hannover-Kröpcke

Wednesday at Can Pep Nebot we welcomed visiting Rotarians from RC Hannover-Kröpcke. We added their club pennant to our Rotarian Stairway, a small but meaningful sign of the friendship between our clubs. Their president, Dr. Stefan Pfeiffer, also gave a brilliant presentation on autonomous mobility, from Volkswagen's MOIA project in Hamburg to what self-driving transport could mean for cities and rural communities. It led to an interesting discussion afterwards.

Our friends invited us to Hannover, and we say the same in return: any Rotarian visiting Mallorca is welcome to join us in Son Servera. And if you still need to book your trip, pick week 26 or week 32. In week 26 we have our piano concert with Salvador Sánchez, the complete Goyescas suite at the Auditori Sa Màniga in Cala Millor (Saturday 27 June). Tickets at ticketib.com/events/concert-goyescas. In week 32 the Hard Bop Drivers bring Open Air Jazz to the Esglesia Nova in Son Servera (Saturday 8 August at 21:00), in aid of APROSCOM, donation 20€. Tickets at ticketib.com/events/jazz-a-laire-libre.

Upcoming - A Summer of Music

We have a wonderful summer ahead, and music is at the heart of it. Whether you live here or you are spending your holiday on the island, both evenings make for a perfect summer outing. And if you are visiting Mallorca as a Rotarian, do come along, you are warmly welcome to meet our club.

The Spanish summer opens with classical piano. On Friday 27 June, pianist Salvador Sánchez performs the complete Goyescas suite by Granados at the Auditori Sa Màniga in Cala Millor. Live and in full, a rare treat. Tickets at ticketib.com/events/concert-goyescas.

But the summer does not end there. On Saturday 8 August at 21:00, the Hard Bop Drivers bring Open Air Jazz to the Esglesia Nova in Son Servera. A warm Mallorcan evening, a great band, and jazz under the open sky.

Both concerts share the same heart. Each one supports APROSCOM, the Manacor foundation that has worked for the social integration of people with intellectual disabilities since 1976. Donation for the jazz evening is 20€, tickets at ticketib.com/events/jazz-a-laire-libre.

Two unforgettable nights, one good cause. On the island or just passing through, come and be part of it.

Upcoming - A Summer of Music

Last night Son Servera came alive for Nit de l'Art, and Rotary Club East Mallorca International was right in the middle of it. Our doors were open, our flags were out, and the street outside number 14 buzzed with people all evening long.

It was one of those nights that reminds us why we do this. The rooms were busy, the conversations flowed, and we met a wonderful mix of familiar faces and people who had never heard of RCEMI before. New connections, curious questions, plenty of laughter, and more than one promising chat about what comes next.

The real star of the evening waited downstairs. In our beautifully vaulted cellar, members Ursula and Andreas had put together a fantastic exhibition bringing together the work of all the artists who have visited Can Pep Nebot over recent months. Under the old stone arches, lit just right, it was the kind of space that makes you slow down, look closer, and stay a little longer than you planned.

Busy, warm, and full of good energy from start to finish. A heartfelt thank you to Ursula and Andreas, to every artist who shared their work, and to everyone who walked through our doors. Son Servera, you did Nit de l'Art proud.
