Los Artistas:

Ana H. del Amo (Cáceres, España, 1977)
Licenciada en Bellas Artes y Diplomada en Estudios Avanzados por la Universidad de Barcelona. Ha expuesto en ferias y galerías como ARCO Madrid (2020), Galería Fran Reus (Palma), Arte Santander (2016), Rafael Pérez Hernando (Madrid), y Espai d’Art Set (Valencia). Ha recibido becas del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores (Academia de España en Roma, 2005), de la Junta de Extremadura (2006 y 2008), y premios como la Beca DKV, Casa de Velázquez y Nocapaper en la Feria Estampa (2016).

Bernadette Kerrigan (Coventry, Reino Unido, 1970)
Graduada en Bellas Artes por la University of Staffordshire (1995) y máster en Pintura por el Royal College of Art (2017). Ha participado en exposiciones colectivas como EJ Hauser, Bernadette Kerrigan, Chris Martin, Daniel Pettitt en KARST, Plymouth (2024); Beep Painting Prize en Swansea (2018); Paper Cuts en Kris Day, Londres (2017); y Pharmacy For Idiots en Tanya Leighton Gallery, Colonia (2017). Es profesora titular en la School of Art and Media, University of Brighton.

Daniel Pettitt (Brighton, Reino Unido, 1986)
Vive y trabaja en Londres. Licenciado en Bellas Artes por Bath School of Art & Design (2008) y máster en Pintura por el Royal College of Art (2017). Sus exposiciones recientes incluyen: More Than The Ear Can Hold, Unit 1 Gallery Workshop, Londres; Coat Heel Throat, Recent Activity, Birmingham (2023); Skeleton Tree, CCA Brighton, University of Brighton (2023); y British Art at Albemarle, Paul Smith, Londres (2023). Es docente en la School of Art and Media de la University of Brighton.

SCAN is pleased to anounce the opeing of AFTER IMAGE, a project curated for Barrera Baldán Gallery in Seville.

The exhibition opens this Friday ar 8:00 pm at the Galley in Calle Boteros 4.

After Image brings together the work of three contemporary artists — Bernadette Kerrigan, Daniel Pettitt, and Ana H. del Amo — in a reflection on the after-image: that fleeting moment when the human eye continues to hold an image even after its source has vanished. This phenomenon, known as persistence of vision, is what allows still images to flow seamlessly into motion in cinema, while also offering a potent metaphor for memory, perception, and repetition within the visual arts.

The exhibition proposes a sensitive reading of drawing, painting, and assembled sculpture as surfaces that hold time, memory, and vision. The works — on paper, canvas, and wood — operate within a liminal space, evoking layered visual recollections that shift between the abstract and the referential. Through strategies such as repetition, superimposition, and the reappearance of forms, the pieces engage with artistic practice as a process of close observation, ongoing revision, and perceptual construction.

After Image suggests that the eye does not merely observe — it also remembers, transforms, and yearns. In this interplay between what is seen and what endures beyond sight, the artworks become surrogate retinas — surfaces charged with time and interpretation. SCAN se complace en anunciar la exposición AFTER IMAGE, comisariada para la Galería Barrera Baldán y con inaguración este Viernes 6 a las 8:00 de la Tarde.

After Image reúne las obras de tres artistas contemporáneos —Bernadette Kerrigan, Daniel Pettitt y Ana H. del Amo— en una reflexión sobre la imagen residual: ese momento en que el ojo humano retiene una imagen aun después de que su fuente haya desaparecido. Este fenómeno, conocido como la persistencia de la visión, permite que las imágenes fijas se conviertan en movimiento fluido en el cine, pero también nos ofrece una poderosa metáfora sobre memoria, percepción y repetición en las artes visuales.

La exposición propone una lectura sensible del dibujo, la pintura y la escultura ensamblada como superficies que contienen tiempo, memoria y visión. Las obras en papel, lienzo y madera operan en un espacio liminal, evocando capas de recuerdos visuales que oscilan entre lo abstracto y lo referencial. A través de estrategias como la repetición, la superposición o la reaparición de formas, las piezas dialogan con la práctica artística como un proceso de observación atenta, revisión constante y construcción perceptiva.

After Image sugiere que el ojo no solo observa, sino que también recuerda, transforma y desea. En este juego entre lo visible y lo que persiste más allá de la visión, los objetos artísticos se convierten en retinas sustitutas —superficies cargadas de tiempo e interpretación. La muestra se posiciona como una exploración compartida de la memoria cultural, la imagen, el espacio, el material y la experiencia del ver.
