The International Naturist Federation supports the call to formally recognise and regulate Sandy Bay in Cape Town as a designated naturist beach.

For decades, Sandy Bay has been used by naturists from South Africa and around the world. This is not a new activity — it is a long-standing reality that deserves clear recognition, proper guidelines, and respectful management.

Formal regulation would help:
* Establish clear behavioural standards
* Protect visitors from harassment and non-consensual photography
* Reduce conflict through clear expectations
* Align with international best practices for naturist beaches

Around the world, regulated naturist beaches contribute positively to tourism, community wellbeing, and social acceptance. When managed properly, they create safer and more respectful environments for everyone.

We believe it is time to address this reality with structure, safety, and dignity.

Protecting Naturism at Hooksiel

The International Naturist Federation (INF-FNI), together with the Deutscher Verband für Freikörperkultur (DFK), has written to the operator of the Hooksiel Campsite on Germany’s North Sea coast regarding plans to discontinue its naturist (FKK) area starting in 2027.

For decades, Hooksiel has been the main naturist campsite on the German North Sea coast, located next to a designated naturist beach and closely connected with the local club Naturistenbund Wilhelmshaven-Friesland.

INF-FNI and DFK emphasize the cultural and tourism value of this historic naturist location and encourage exploring solutions that would allow naturist camping to continue.

If closed, this would mean the loss of the last dedicated naturist camping facility on Germany’s North Sea coast.

Both organisations hope that, through dialogue with local partners and the municipality of Wangerland, a solution can be found to preserve this important part of Europe’s naturist heritage.
