Esta semana la sección de Cultura de La Vanguardia dedica un artículo a nuestro nuevo proyecto, la Santa Gertrudis Commission, y a la próxima intervención de SUPERFLEX en Ibiza.

La pieza destaca parte de los proyectos que han marcado la trayectoria de SUPERFLEX hasta aterrizar en Ibiza, y se acerca al proceso de investigación que el colectivo está desarrollando actualmente en la isla, conectando con la realidad insular, sus gentes y sus tiempos.

This week, the culture section of La Vanguardia dedicated an article to our new project, the Santa Gertrudis Commission, and to the upcoming intervention by SUPERFLEX in Ibiza.

The piece highlights some of the projects that have shaped SUPERFLEX’s trajectory before landing in Ibiza, and gets close to the research process the collective is currently developing on the island, connecting with the reality of Ibiza, its people and its rhythms.

🔹Visit SUPERFLEX’s participatory installation in Ibiza🔹

This summer, you can take part in the installation SUPERFLEX has created in Ibiza, as a preview of the first edition of the Santa Gertrudis Commission.

The renowned Danish group has installed two billboards on the site where the final artwork will be built, with a message in Spanish, English, and Eivissenc. This marks the project’s first appearance in the space and offers a glimpse of some of the ideas that will take shape in the final artwork.

Next to the billboards you’ll find a post with a QR code. We invite you to stop by and scan it, becoming part of the future artwork. 

The Santa Gertrudis Commission was presented on June 6 as part of Ses12naus Weekend. At Ocean Drive Talamanca, SUPERFLEX revealed the conceptual lines and first details of what will be their first public artwork in Spain, in a conversation moderated by curator , joined by Ángeles Ferragut, director of the Foundation. The event took us closer to the group’s vision and the perspective from which they are imagining and developing their intervention on the island. A few weeks ago we unveiled the billboards at an opening event on the site in Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera.

🔺 Open Call 2025/26 🔺

Durante el Ses12naus Weekend inauguramos en La Carpintería los proyectos desarrollados por los tres artistas seleccionados en nuestra Open Call 2025/26: MARÓN y Gala Knörr

“Toda residencia implica una cierta suspensión: un desplazamiento temporal y físico donde las rutinas se trastornan, dejando espacio para otros modos de hacer, pensar y compartir. Los proyectos de Gala, Diogo y Marina formulan una mirada atenta hacia distintos aspectos del lugar —las salinas, la arquitectura payesa, la cultura nocturna y las formas de comunidad que todavía persisten— como materiales sensibles desde los que pensar el territorio.

Una cartografía fragmentada de la Ibiza del pasado y del presente, que no aspira a funcionar como conclusión sino como la continuación natural de un proceso todavía abierto.” , comisaria.

🔺 Sina Sohrab · CAL 🔺

Durante Ses12naus Weekend, en La Carpintería, hemos inaugurado ‘CAL’, el proyecto creado por Sina Sohrab para la segunda edición de ‘Something for an Island’, nuestra residencia anual de diseño.

“CAL — Común, Adaptable, Ligero” propone un sistema abierto de construcción inspirado en el lenguaje constructivo improvisado de Ibiza. A partir de textiles, materiales encontrados y herrajes náuticos, el sistema permite fijar rápidamente piezas locales para transformarlas en objetos funcionales —taburetes, mesas, respaldos, parasoles— pensados para adaptarse a la playa, la ciudad o el campo.

El pasado viernes 5 de junio, Sina Sohrab abrió la jornada con una charla junto a alban le henry en la que compartieron las ideas y el proceso detrás del proyecto que ha concebido las piezas diseñadas  durante su residencia en la isla.

“CAL” está, por definición, incompleto hasta que alguien lo construya en su propio contexto, con los materiales que tenga a su alcance.

🔹SUPERFLEX on Ibiza 🔹

We are delighted to announce our collaboration with the Danish artist group SUPERFLEX , an international reference for their practice at the intersection of art, activism and design, and for their large-scale interventions in public space, presented at venues such as Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall, MoMA and the Venice Biennale.

SUPERFLEX will inaugurate the Santa Gertrudis Commission, a new annual public art commission driven by Ses12naus that brings international artists to develop a major site specific work responding to Ibiza’s unique cultural landscape.

The project’s launch will take place on Saturday 6 June in Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera with a festive, participatory performance conceived in relation to the piece, which is scheduled for June 2027.

Exposiciones, charlas, presentaciones y performances en un programa que reunirá a artistas, agentes culturales y comunidad local para compartir los resultados de los proyectos desarrollados a lo largo del último año y la presentación de un nuevo proyecto que marcará la siguiente etapa de la fundación: la Santa Gertrudis Commission.

Ses12naus is delighted to announce the last of the three artists selected for the Open Call 2025–26 residency in Ibiza: Diogo Da Cruz ().

Diogo lives and works between Berlin and Lisbon. His practice spans sculpture, installation and film, often constructing partially fictional scenarios rooted in socio-political concerns across past, present and future.

His proposal for the residency departs from the layers of history and life embedded in Ibiza’s landscapes. He will explore the island’s geological deep time, focusing on its salines and coastal formations, where salt becomes a crystalline archive of ancient seas, human labour, environmental change and the pressures of contemporary tourism. 

Thank you to all who participated in this year’s Open Call. We are impressed with the volume and quality of applications we received.

The jury for this year was composed by Elise Lammer (), Javier Aparicio (), and Ángeles Ferragut ().

Ses12naus es complau a anunciar el darrer de les tres artistes seleccionades per a la residència Open Call 2025-26 a Eivissa: Diogo Da Cruz ().

Diogo viu i treballa entre Berlín i Lisboa. La seva pràctica abasta l’escultura, la instal·lació i el cinema, sovint construint escenaris parcialment ficticis arrelats en inquietuds sociopolítiques que transiten entre el passat, el present i el futur.

La seva proposta pren com a punt de partida les capes d’història i de vida encastades en els paisatges d’Eivissa. Explorarà el temps profund geològic de l’illa, centrant-se en les seves salines i formacions costaneres, on la sal es converteix en un arxiu cristal·lí de mars antics, treball humà, canvi ambiental i les pressions del turisme contemporani. En un lloc conegut pels seus ritmes fugacs, s’interessa pel que perdura.

Gràcies a tots els que han participat en la convocatòria oberta d’aquest any.

El jurat d’aquest any ha estat compost per Elise Lammer (), Javier Aparicio (), i Angeles Ferragut ().
