All lovely people here, I need as much help, as possible please.
We´ve got such a sad news today. Little Dobby is in a critical condition.
When I caught him, he was breathing fast and shallow, hissing at me. We thought he was just stressed and scared.
When he started relaxing today with Shenah, she had noticed his breathing became deeper and more difficult. Still he was eating and grooming himself.
Shenah had more time with Dobby to watch him properly and during the day she contacted me, to discuss what we should do.
At the end, seeing that his breathing was getting worse almost by the hour, she decided that the safest will be to take him immediately to the vet, that she uses in Almoradi.
Dobby had an x-ray of his chest and it turned out, he is having a big hernia ( the black area on top ), that is pushing on his organs, making his breathing every day worse and worse, with everyday growing and eaten food.
He was born with it, as there is no damage done to that area from outside force , like from a car for example.
The vet put him straight into an oxygen tent and gave us two options: Dobby will die very soon anyway, so we can put him to sleep now ( or Shenah can take him home and watch him die at home ) or we can give him a chance to have a normal life by operating on him. The chances for him surviving the operation are 50 / 50 ( I suppose as with any operation for us humans too - there is never any guarantee ), but in his case he is a tiny kitten, weakened by his condition and by the trauma of being in the accident and trying to survive hungry, dehydrated and with the pain of badly broken leg, so there are more chances that he will not wake up from the operation.
So what we are suppose to chose? The other 50 percent? And wonder later all the time if he would survive? Or give him at least a chance?
The decision usually in those cases is down to money sadly. Animals don´t have free health care like humans do, so their lives have a high price. Many unfortunately pay that price with their lives.
Lately I was not able to help any cats or kittens, because my ones are really ill and it is an everyday struggle. Because of money 😥
I was giving up on helping and answering people s messages, but Irene from Cats N Dogs Aid Association offered help with vet bills and asked me to keep helping for the sake of those little souls.
Before I went to catch Dobby, I asked Irene if it will be ok to take him to the vet, not knowing even, that he had broken leg and needed more help than with a normal injury,
She of course agreed straight away, but we were not prepared for what is happening now.
Dobby is so critical now - it got worse almost from hour to hour over those few days, that the operation has to be done tomorrow - Sunday. Or he might not survive another day or two.
I was so upset hearing the news and called Irene. The operation bill would be 904 e and unfortunately needed to be paid upfront, because the vets need to pay the traumatologist tomorrow.
Without hesitation Irene and her husband Chris drove to the vet this evening and paid the bill. There was not even discussion, if we should or not give Dobby a chance 💗
Thank you so much for this 💗 . I would not forgive myself too for not trying but since I don´t have that much money - especially to pay upfront in one go, I had to ask for help.
Now I would ask you lovely people to help and get at least some
( and maybe all, if possible ), money back to the Cats N Dogs Aid Association, as they have lots of own cats in their sanctuary to look after.
At the end of this post you can find their bank account, but first I want to thank so much Shenah for acting fast and for spending four hours at the vet with little Dobby. You are a star 💗
It was a destiny that he came to you.
And thank you again Irene and Chris for wanting also give this little baby at least a chance.
