A huge thank you to Prof Mark Field, Divisional Medical Director for Surgery at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, and the team from Arrowe Park Hospital who took on the Wirral 10K this weekend.

We're delighted to be supporting Liverpool Aortic Week this week, alongside the Aortic Symposium, and to be sponsoring and speaking at Aorta: Structure to Rupture.

As a charity, bringing together medical professionals, patients and families is central to our work. It's wonderful to see the community united in support of raising awareness and funding specialist nurses to improve outcomes for everyone affected by aortic dissection.

Huge congratulations to the Artivion Cycling Challenge team for taking on the mountains in Mallorca over the weekend and fundraising for our TADCT nurse programme.

Because of support like this, patients and families affected by aortic dissection receive specialist care, guidance and support when they need it most.

Thank you to Artivion for their partnership, and to every rider who made the weekend such a success.

A huge thank you to BBC Tees for helping raise awareness of aortic dissection on today’s show.

Thank you Rachel for sharing your family’s story. Conversations like these are vital in helping people understand the importance of family history, early diagnosis and awareness of inherited aortic conditions.

Rachel shares her family’s experience of aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection and explains why knowing your family history can save lives.

On , we are proud to celebrate this year’s theme of Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.

Yesterday, Reeja, the first TADCT-funded aortic nurse ran her very first aortic dissection clinic, marking an important step forward in specialist aortic care. With more TADCT nurses coming into post very soon, we are building a future where empowered nurses truly save lives.

Thank you to every nurse for the compassion and expertise you bring every day.

What a month it has been!

From the TCS London Marathon to Boston Marathon, Brighton Marathon Weekend to Manchester Marathon and London Landmarks Half Marathon, our incredible runners have taken on major marathons in memory of loved ones and to raise awareness of aortic dissection. These are just a few of the amazing runners who have helped raise over £35,000 to support patient care, aortic nurses and vital research.

Thank you to our supporters, friends and families who lined the routes to cheer them on and helped spread awareness along the way. If you would like to help us in our mission, whether through running or another activity or event, please get in contact.

Many people living with aortic dissection tell us they wake through the night, struggle to switch off and feel exhausted during the day.

New research from Amsterdam UMC and Yale School of Medicine shows this is common. Around 65% of survivors report poor sleep. In the UK group, the figure was even higher at over 80%.

You are not alone. These symptoms are recognised and part of recovery for many.

New research shows poor sleep is common after aortic dissection, affecting recovery, energy and wellbeing, yet it is often missed in routine follow-up care.

Charlotte and Nico are at the start of an incredible 20,000km bike ride from Chamonix to Tokyo. Their journey will take about 9 months and cross 16 borders.

They have now made it to Kozani in Greece after crossing the tough Epirus Mountains and dealing with unpredictable weather. Every km is a tribute to Charlotte’s father and a mission to raise awareness of aortic dissection.

Research in aortic dissection has often been shaped by broad cardiovascular priorities rather than the specific needs of this condition. That is beginning to change.

At the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in GB & Ireland meeting in Belfast this week, we began the process by opening the initial consultation phase of the first dedicated James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership for aortic dissection. This partnership will bring patients, family members and clinicians together to identify the most important uncertainties in current research and evidence.

Priority setting partnerships have already helped shape major studies and National Institute for Health and Care Research funded projects in other areas of cardiovascular care. A focused partnership for will help ensure that future research funding is directed where it can make the greatest difference.

Women are Underdiagnosed, Underrepresented and Undertreated.

In partnership with King's College London and funded by Heart Research UK, we are asking the aortic dissection community what matters most to you about women’s cardiovascular health.

This project aims to identify and prioritise key areas so future research can better address the specific needs of women’s cardiovascular health.

The survey is open to anyone in the UK or Ireland, women and men, with lived or professional experience of women’s cardiovascular disease.
