Today, on the 100th anniversary of his death, theatres around the world are celebrating Giacomo Puccini.

In his native city of Lucca, the Teatro del Giglio celebrates the great composer with the premiere of a new production of Tosca, directed by Luca Orsini. Henry Kennedy conducts the Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini , founded twenty years ago by Riccardo Muti. On the main roles: Clarissa Costanzo as Floria Tosca, Azer Zada as Mario Cavaradossi and Massimo Cavalletti as Barone Scarpia.

Sabina Puértolas and Maite Beaumont both make their role debut as Anna Bolena and Giovanna Seymour.

Bayreuth Baroque Festival opens tonight with the rediscovery of by .
