An Invitation to Know Your International Faculty: Vincentia S. Schroeter (Emeritus Faculty Member)
As we conclude our 1st series about 6 International Faculty Members of the IIBA, we look to one of our Emeritus Faculty Members to remind us of the lifelong rewards of a bioenergetic path.
Vincentia S. Schroeter, PhD, became a Certified Bioenergetic Therapist in 1980 and joined the International Faculty in 2000.
Throughout her decades of service, Vincentia recognized a vital need within our community: a clear, methodical collection of somatic tools. To fulfill this, she co-authored Bend Into Shape (2011), a comprehensive textbook widely used in international training programs and translated into Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Chinese. She also served as the dedicated chief editor of the IIBA Clinical Journal for ten years.
Though she closed her clinical practice in 2017, Vincentia remains deeply active in online supervision and writing, publishing reflective works like Tilt (2021) on finding balance during difficult times, and her recent 2025 memoir, Babymaking.
Vincentia shares: “One of the great pleasures of being on the faculty has been my exposure to different cultures... I wish everyone in the organization, both new and old, the joy and fulfillment I have felt in the Bioenergetic world.”
Vincentia’s legacy reminds us that when we anchor ourselves in neuroscience, energy, and relational warmth, we create a beautiful space for others to grow.
