I need 45 people to do something mildly annoying for me.

Savi is a finalist at the Coliving Awards. Destination Coliving category. Us, an Italian social enterprise, and Outsite, who have about 50 locations and a marketing department.

We have a villa, some chickens and a WhatsApp group.

Right now the vote looks like this: 🇮🇹 Ca'Co 49% 🏠 Savi 38% 🌍 Outsite 13%

There are 408 votes in. The gap is roughly 45 people. I know at least 45 people. I've cooked for most of you.

Here's the annoying bit. The vote is on LinkedIn. Yes, LinkedIn. The website where people announce they're "humbled" to have been promoted. You'll need to log in. It takes 12 seconds and you can log straight back out and pretend it never happened.

👉 https://lnkd.in/p/e_EkiSQq Tap "Savi Coliving", done.

Closes Wednesday 9th. Five days.

If we win, there'll be a party at the villa. If we lose to a company with 50 locations, there'll also be a party at the villa, but I'll be quieter at it.

Share it if you've ever eaten at the long table, walked one of the dogs, or just enjoyed watching me try to run a business where nobody drinks.

Gracias 🙏

We might be the least demanding coliving in Europe.

No one is expected at dinner.

No one has to join the Sunday hike.

No one has to come to the pool party or the barbecue.

No one has to do yoga, or lie down for a sound bath.

No one has to turn up to the rooftop alcohol-free cocktail party.

And no one has to take one of the last two rooms in October.

Here's the odd part: almost everyone comes to almost everything.

Turns out when you take the pressure off, people stop performing community and just have some. You show up to dinner because you want to see people, not because there's a rota with your name on it. You skip the hike because your knee hurts, and nobody says a word about it.

Sober coliving, 25 minutes from Valencia. Two rooms left in October.

Nobody's making you. Just mentioning it.

Hey everyone, me again....

We need 50 more votes to actually win this thing, not just be shortlisted, and I know that's a big ask when everyone's inbox is already full of stuff like this. But it would mean a lot.

Savi's been a year of turning an empty house into somewhere people actually want to be, and getting this far already feels like a small miracle. Winning would help more than you'd think, this kind of thing genuinely moves the needle for something small and independent like this.

So if you've got ten seconds and a LinkedIn login, I'd be properly grateful. No sign up, no email, just a click. Easiest with the app or even easier with a laptop ...

I'll remember this one. Thank you.

I opened a sober coliving in the Spanish mountains.

Everyone told me it would fail.

"Nobody will pay to not drink, Steve." "Digital nomads want beach clubs, not silence." "A monastery with WiFi? Good luck."

Two years later, the long table in our courtyard is full most nights. Founders, writers, developers, people rebuilding after burnout, nobody holding a drink, everybody holding a conversation.

Turns out the thing everyone said was the flaw, no alcohol, was the entire point. Take drinking out of the room and something strange happens: people actually talk. By day three, guests know each other better than colleagues they've worked with for years.

I finally wrote the whole origin story down. The near-bankruptcy bits too.

If it resonates, I'd love to hear the thing you built that everyone said would fail.

STOP!! HELP!!

Savi's been shortlisted for a Coliving Award, Destination Coliving category, which is a fancy way of saying "please prove people will actually travel to the middle of nowhere near Valencia for this."

If you've ever stayed with us, thought about staying with us, stalked our Instagram at 2am while pretending to consider it, or just enjoyed watching Jenny the donut dog exist from a distance, there's a poll below and I need your vote.

No alcohol, no drama, one incredibly judgmental podenco who thinks she runs the place. Somehow that's a formula worth voting for, apparently.

Vote Savi Coliving!

Two rooms just opened up at Savi, available now through 16 September.

Sober coliving, 25 minutes outside Valencia. Pool, mountain views, a kitchen that's usually got something good happening in it, and people who actually talk to each other instead of just nodding in the hallway.

If you've been thinking about it, this is a short window to just come and see for yourself.

The worst part of this job is saying no to people who'd probably be fine.

Not the obvious ones. Someone wants to drink, someone wants a party house, someone reads "sober" and asks if there's an exception. That's a two-minute call.

The hard ones are good people at the wrong time.

Someone lovely, doing interesting work, who'd fit a house of six but not this house, this month, with these people already in it. Someone who needs a lot right now and would get it — at the cost of everyone else getting slightly less.

I've turned those down. It never feels clever. It feels like admitting the thing has limits.

But a house isn't a list of compatible individuals. It's a room, and rooms have a weather to them. Add one person and the temperature changes for everybody.

That's what the vetting call is actually for. I'm not testing anyone. I'm trying to work out what this particular month needs.

Which is also why I can't just fill the last rooms with whoever asks first.

Two left for October.

If you've lived with strangers — what's the one thing that made it work, or broke it?
