💜 A Huge Thank You to Our Amazing Volunteers! 💜

Take a look at our beautiful new shop window display, lovingly created by our incredible volunteers this week. 🌻 Their creativity, hard work and dedication help make our shop such a welcoming place for everyone who visits.

You’ll also notice our Patients Fund Donations Thermometer proudly displayed in the window.

💜 We’re delighted to share that, thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we’ve now reached an amazing €12,000 in donations to our Patients Fund during 2026! 💜

Every euro donated goes directly towards supporting local people affected by cancer and their families. These funds help us provide vital services such as:
🌻 Patient transport to hospital appointments
🌻 Medical equipment loans
🌻 Financial assistance during difficult times
🌻 Emotional support and practical help when it’s needed most

💙 Introducing Our New MACS Patient Transport Van! 💙

We are delighted to share some wonderful news with our community!

Thanks to the incredible generosity and ongoing support of our donors, fundraisers, volunteers and supporters, MACS Cancer Support Group now has a new dedicated patient transport van. 🚐

This van will play a vital role in helping local cancer patients travel safely and comfortably to and from hospital appointments, chemotherapy and other essential treatments.

For many patients, getting to hospital can be one of the biggest challenges during their cancer journey. Our volunteer drivers provide more than just transport—they offer reassurance, kindness and a friendly face when it’s needed most.

This new van is a reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together to support those facing cancer.

Every raffle ticket purchased, every donation made, every fundraising event attended and every hour volunteered has helped make this possible. This van belongs to our community.

💙 ¡Presentamos la nueva furgoneta de transporte para pacientes de MACS! 💙

¡Nos hace muchísima ilusión compartir una gran noticia con nuestra comunidad!

Gracias a la increíble generosidad y al continuo apoyo de nuestros donantes, colaboradores, voluntarios y simpatizantes, MACS Cancer Support Group cuenta ahora con una nueva furgoneta dedicada al transporte de pacientes. 🚐

Esta furgoneta desempeñará un papel fundamental ayudando a pacientes con cáncer de nuestra comunidad a desplazarse de forma segura y cómoda hacia y desde el hospital para recibir tratamientos de quimioterapia, radioterapia, consultas médicas y otras citas esenciales.

Para muchos pacientes, llegar al hospital puede ser uno de los mayores desafíos durante su tratamiento. Nuestros conductores voluntarios ofrecen mucho más que un simple transporte: brindan tranquilidad, apoyo, amabilidad y una cara amiga cuando más se necesita.

Esta nueva furgoneta es un ejemplo de todo lo que podemos conseguir cuando una comunidad se une para apoyar a quienes están luchando contra el cáncer.

Cada papeleta de rifa comprada, cada donación realizada, cada evento solidario al que habéis asistido y cada hora dedicada por nuestros voluntarios ha contribuido a hacer esto posible. Esta furgoneta pertenece a toda nuestra comunidad.

It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news that our much-loved volunteer, Annette Kilgour, tragically lost her life during the recent wildfires in the Los Gallardos/Bédar area.

Following the formal identification process and confirmation to Annette’s family by the authorities, we are now able to acknowledge this devastating loss publicly.

Annette was a valued member of the MACS family and volunteered in our Turre charity shop, where she was a dedicated member of our Tuesday team. She gave her time with kindness, compassion and a warm smile, and her presence touched the lives of so many volunteers and customers alike.

She will be deeply missed by her fellow volunteers, everyone at MACS Cancer Charity, and the wider community who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Our thoughts, heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies are with Annette’s family, friends and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. We ask that their privacy is respected as they come to terms with this unimaginable loss.

Rest in peace, Annette. Thank you for your kindness, your generosity and everything you gave to MACS. You will never be forgotten. 💙

Dedicó su tiempo con amabilidad, compasión y una sonrisa cálida, dejando una huella imborrable en sus compañeros voluntarios, y todos los que la conocieron.

If you have been affected by the recent fires and have lost clothing or essential items, MACS Cancer Charity is here to help.

❤️ We have a selection of clothing available and would like to support anyone in need during this incredibly difficult time.

📍 Simply visit our shop and bring proof of residency (Residencia/TIE or other proof that you live in the affected area), and our volunteers will do everything they can to help you find the clothing you need.

Please don’t struggle alone. If you know someone who has been affected, please share this post so we can reach as many people as possible.

Today our hearts are with everyone affected by the devastating wildfire in Los Gallardos, Bédar and the surrounding communities.

On behalf of everyone at MACS, we extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have tragically lost their lives. There are no words that can ease such unimaginable loss, but please know that our thoughts are with you during this incredibly difficult time.

We also send our strength and support to those who have been injured, displaced from their homes, or are facing uncertainty as a result of this devastating event. To the firefighters, emergency services, UME, volunteers and all those working tirelessly to protect lives and communities, we thank you for your extraordinary courage, dedication and selflessness.

Communities across our region have always shown incredible resilience and compassion in times of hardship. We have no doubt that, together, we will continue to support one another in the days and weeks ahead.

Please continue to follow the guidance of the emergency services and look out for your neighbours, friends and loved ones.
