Be honest: when you see in a Facebook notification, do you click it… or automatically ignore it? 👀

I realised recently that I almost always ignore it.

I do not mean an ordinary notification from a person, Page or group I follow. I mean the ones where it is obvious the same alert has gone out to me and lots of other people - all the followers.

As soon as it feels like a mass notification rather than something actually directed at me, I seem to filter it out without even thinking.

When I looked at my notifications, almost all were like that. And I didn't click a single one.

The strange thing is, the post itself might be useful. I may actually be missing things I would otherwise have read.

So now I want to know whether I am unusual.

When you see or a similar mass notification, are you more likely to click — or ignore?

💙💜🩷🤎💚 A little September almanac…

September has its own collection of colours, symbols, stones, flowers and stories.

Its traditional birthstone is the sapphire, most often pictured in that extraordinary deep blue and associated through history with sincerity, truth, loyalty and wisdom.

Its birth flowers are the aster and morning glory. Think purples, blues and pinks alongside deep greens, burnished golds and the richer earthy colours that begin appearing at this time of year.

September is also the ninth month, although its name comes from the Latin septem, meaning seven, a reminder that it was once the seventh month of the ancient Roman calendar.

Look upwards this month too.

The autumn equinox falls on 23 September, when the Sun crosses the celestial equator and astronomical autumn begins in the Northern Hemisphere.

Then on 26 September we have the Harvest Moon, the full moon closest to the autumn equinox.

September has long carried ideas of harvest, balance, abundance, gratitude and completion. In numerology, the number nine is also associated with wisdom, compassion and the completion of a cycle.

And perhaps Helen Hunt Jackson captured the month best:

“September days are here, with summer’s best of weather and autumn’s best of cheer.”

So perhaps September’s palette is sapphire blue, aster purple, deep green and gold, with a little moonlight thrown in.

💙 Any September birthdays among our Costa Women? And what colour, stone, flower or feeling do you associate with this month?

And just like that, September is here.

Suitcases have been packed. Car doors are banging shut. Holidaymakers are heading to airports, driving home or making their way back to other parts of Spain and Europe.

And suddenly… we can park again.

I went to my local fruit and veg market this morning, and it felt completely different. I found a parking space without circling, I could walk between the stalls without squeezing past people, and I was home in about half the time.

At the beginning of August, everyone seemed to arrive at once. Now, almost as quickly, many have gone already.

The market felt like ours again.

Summer certainly isn’t over in Spain. We may have plenty more hot days ahead. But 1 September seems to bring a change in pace.

The holiday rush eases. Familiar faces reappear. Everyday life starts settling back into its usual rhythm.

Before work, school, appointments and everything else fill the calendar again, what’s one thing you want to bring with you into September?

A habit? A decision? Something you want more of?

Or perhaps something you’re quite happy to leave in August.

How much of your sense of worth is tied to things that move?

Your bank balance, the car you drive, your relationship status, your business results, your job title, how your body looks right now, whether the people around you are pleased with your choices, how many people showed up to your event, signed up for your offer, or responded to your message.

All of those things fluctuate, every single one. And when we tie our value to them, we end up on an emotional rollercoaster that is genuinely exhausting to ride.

The good months feel wonderful and then the ones where the results don't reflect the effort, the ones where the approval doesn't come, can dismantle everything we thought we felt certain about.

And that's not a character flaw. It's what happens when we've anchored our worth in the wrong place.

Because true, lasting self-worth, the kind that holds steady when everything around you is shifting, comes from something much more permanent than results or recognition.

It comes from your values and the way you live them out every day. From how you treat the people around you and the way you speak to yourself when things are hard. From the resilience you've built through the seasons that tested you. From your willingness to keep growing not because you have to prove something but because you genuinely want to.

Those things don't move. They are yours regardless of what this month looks like, what someone else thinks, or how far away the next milestone feels.

You are the asset - not your achievements, your appearance, nor your approval ratings. You. 🤍

"Don't hitch your self-worth to something that moves. It's the biggest asset you own." ~ Donna Ashworth

Hot off the press!

We are delighted to see Costa Women Business Growth member Dr Hanna Raitio featured in the September edition of Costa Connection Magazine. And not just inside the magazine, but on the cover too.

Dr Hanna is a consultant dermatologist, MD, PhD and Docent with more than 35 years’ experience in dermatology, allergology and aesthetic medicine. She leads La Cala Medical & Aesthetics in La Cala de Mijas, where her approach centres on personalised, specialist care.

Inside the September edition, Hanna is featured across a page-and-a-half article, allowing readers to discover more about her work and expertise.

This week, we are shining the Costa Women Business Growth Member Spotlight on Kim Morrison, marketer, author, coach, and Canva Champion.

Kim helps businesses make marketing feel clearer, calmer, and more manageable through Morr Marketing, her boutique marketing agency.

And this week, she has created something especially useful for anyone who feels stuck with their marketing.

What is your biggest marketing block?

Kim’s quick quiz takes around two minutes and helps identify the single biggest marketing block holding you back.

You’ll receive:

✅ A personalised result explaining what may be getting in your way
✅ A free section of Kim’s Calm Marketing Starter Kit, matched to your result
✅ Practical next steps you can actually use, without overwhelm or jargon

If you have ever felt that there is plenty of marketing advice telling you what to do, but not enough showing you how to do it, this could be a useful place to start.

Take the quiz and tell us what result you get.

Roundabouts in Spain… love them or dread them? 🚗🇪🇸

For some people, they are no big deal.
For others, they still require full concentration, deep breathing and a little bit of courage.

Is it the lane choices, the indicators, the exits, or the different ways people seem to approach them.

And then there is the question many of us still ask…

Is everyone following the same rules? 😄

💡 Did you know you can use Google Maps even when you don’t have an internet connection?

Very handy when you’re travelling, driving somewhere unfamiliar, heading inland, or you suddenly discover that your mobile signal has disappeared!

Before you leave:

📍 Open Google Maps
📍 Tap your profile picture or initial
📍 Choose the Offline maps option
📍 Tap Select your own map
📍 Move the map to cover the area you need
📍 Tap Download

Once it’s saved to your phone, Google Maps can still guide you by car within the downloaded area even if your connection is slow or disappears. You won’t get live traffic or alternative routes while offline, though.

One little job before a road trip that could save quite a bit of frustration later!

Did you already know this one? Or what phone trick do you know that everybody else should know about?
