We are dedicated to the rescue , care and rehabilitation of sick and abandoned donkeys . We are the only Donkey Sanctuary in the Murcia region.

With no government support we totally rely on the generosity of the public. Andrea’s Animal Rescue was started in August 2008. The charity was formed primarily to care for mal-treated Donkeys, as during this time, Henrietta, a female donkey who had several tumours, was rescued. She was in fact our second donkey, Lola being the first. Lola had not been adequately cared for by her previous Spanish

owner. Henrietta however was found about two kms away from our home she had been abandoned by the side of the motorway. Her tumours were so severe that she had to have treatment in Murcia veterinary hospital with an estimated cost of 2500 euros for her operations. We commenced fund-raising and selling unwanted items at a local car boot sales. This in turn lead to opening of our shop. However due to her treatment and a blood disorder Henrietta sadly died. We could not let her passing go unnoticed, so we formed The Henrietta Foundation.

SEPTEMBER BENIDORM TRIP

Following the success of previous trips we are delighted to announce it’s time to buy tickets for our next trip to BENIDORM on Sunday 6th September 2026.

Benidorm Day Trip - Fundraising coach trip on Sunday 6th September- 22€

Why not treat yourself to a day trip to Benidorm. For 22 euros we will pick you up locally and drop you off to enjoy your day before bringing you back home.

From Levante beach to the Old Town and everything in between. Bars, restaurants and shops that cater for everyone’s taste.

Sunday is market day so you can shop till you drop 🛍️

The day is yours to do exactly what you like and you can simply sit and watch the world go by … my favorite pastime given half the chance. 🤣

Pick up points are;

🚌. 8 am Puerto de Mazarron bus station.

🚌 8.30 am Camposol B sec car park.

We will be leaving Benidorm at 6pm for our return trip home.

So meet Carlos, this very handsome boy is 2 years old and looking for a loving forever home 🩵

Vaccines are up to date ✔️
Walks well on the lead ✔️
He loves attention ✔️

Carlos would like to be the only spoiled pet in the house so would prefer to be homed on his own without any cats 🐈‍⬛

Our charity relies solely on donations and the money raised in our three shops.

Sometimes items are too big for us to move and the that’s when local businesses step in to help us out.

Today we would like to give a big shout out and thank you to Amanda and her team at Lords Removals who again stepped up to help by moving some furniture for us.

Special thanks also go to Vanessa, Rodger and their team at Knight Hawk Couriers who delivered some goods that had been kindly donated to us by the world vets association.

We cannot thank these local businesses enough for their support so please keep them in mind.

Just another day of roaming free for our herd here at the sanctuary 🥰

I have been sent a video that I’m not going to post of donkey’s being used to pull tourists around a holiday resort.

Extreme heat and very little signs of water.

It broke my heart and wonder why people exploit these beautiful animals this way.

It makes all of our work here so worthwhile when I see our herd ❤️

Camposol. The little place in the sun that just keeps giving ❤️

What a night we had on Saturday. We had the pleasure of doing a fundraising raffle at Cat’s Bar & Tel’s Bar on Camposol A and as ever it didn’t disappoint.

It was a great night with great music and chat from the resident DJ Mr Sean Bodie. We also had the fabulous Aaron Lanney keeping the dance floor alive with some classics from the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s.

It was great for us to come, enjoy a night out and meet everyone who support us throughout the year.

A big thank you to Debbie & Sara and all the team at Cat’s Bar and Lianne from Tel’s Bar for the invite. We raised a phenomenal amount with our raffle and we cannot thank you enough for keeping us in your thoughts 🥰.

A special thank you to everyone who donated the raffle prizes, to Janet & Maureen who packaged them up to look so pretty and obviously everyone who bought tickets.

One last thank you goes to our special group of volunteers who are always on hand to help out Andrea. We had June, Gill, Andrea no.2 and Mark on Saturday 🥰

Every cent raised will go to the care and welfare of our animals ❤️

Good morning, it’s Monday and it’s

CAMPOSOL COLLECTION DAY

We will be at our usual place on the sector B carpark from 11.00 am -1 pm collecting any unwanted items that you wish to donate.

We can arrange collection for all larger items.

We are also willing to take all your unwanted coins, the brown bits n bobs that you don’t want and that lie about your house or clutter your purse…. We love ‘em 🤣🤣🤣 as they all add up .

It’s been a very busy and worthwhile few days for us on the fundraising side. Let’s start with our trip to Mojacar and the Garrucha Market.

Some of us shopped till we dropped whilst others saved themselves for the bars and restaurants of Mojacar. No matter how many times you go, Mojacar Pueblo always hits the spot. It’s just a special place and why we always return taking our old and new friends with us.

It was a fantastic day with some great laughs and memories made.

Not only do these trips give Andrea and our hard working volunteers a great day out together but they are also vital in our fundraising. On Friday we raised a grand total of €1040.

We would like to thank you all for coming and supporting our charity. Every cent raised will go to the care and welfare of our animals and your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you soooo much 🥰

A special thanks go to our hard working team of Andrea, June, Gill, Andrea no.2, Janet and Pat. We couldn’t do it without you ❤️
