Here's how a royalty advance works, step by step.

Your catalog already brings in revenue every month.
An advance lets you use part of what it will generate over the next few years, today.

We start with your actual royalties and your full earnings history. That number is what determines how much can be advanced.

You then receive that amount up front.

From there, the advance is recouped from a percentage of your royalties.

Once it's fully recouped, 100% of your royalties goes back to you.

The ownership rights never change hands. They stay yours from start to finish.

The capital comes from our investment partners.

limbo/ brings the infrastructure, the data, and the transparency.

How many intermediaries sit between your platform and the DSPs?

If you're building a music platform, the app was never the hard part.
It's the DSP contracts, the DDEX specs that shift per partner, the delivery layer that keeps needing work long after launch.

That's what pushes platforms into a chain of resellers, and takes their catalog data along for the ride.
This video breaks down what limbo/API puts underneath instead: direct deals with major DSPs plus Merlin deals, DDEX handled on our side, and one surface covering catalog, delivery, approvals and analytics.

Public docs, free sandbox, credentials in five minutes.

Most independent artists know they can sell their catalog.
What a lot of them miss is the difference between a sale and a royalty advance.

An advance gets you cash now in exchange for a cut of the royalties your catalog keeps earning. A sale gets you a bigger payout, all at once, in exchange for handing over whatever you're selling.

Each one solves a different problem, and not every catalog qualifies for either.

Starting a distribution business used to mean building the whole thing yourself.

Contracts with each DSP.
A delivery pipeline that speaks DDEX.
Quality control.
Royalty accounting.
Years of work before your first release ever ships.

That's what white-label distribution takes off the table.

You bring the brand, the artists and the way you want to run the business. The infrastructure underneath is already built and running.

What your artists see is your platform. What happens after they hit upload is our side of the wall: checks on metadata, audio and artwork, delivery through direct DSP deals and Merlin Network, royalties reported line by line.

Selling your catalog turns your masters and/or publishing into capital today:
a real number in hand now, instead of an uncertain royalty stream down the road.

Before you get there, few things are worth sorting out:

→ What can you actually sell?
You can only sell what's truly yours, so start by figuring out what's under your name, and at what percentage.

→ How much does your catalog actually generate?
What gets evaluated isn't your name. It's what your music consistently earns.

→ Is your paperwork in order? Registrations, splits, metadata. A catalog with everything documented moves through evaluation a lot faster.

limbo/ doesn't buy your catalog.

We work with specialized investor partners who provide the capital. We bring the infrastructure, the data, and full transparency on every number.

Manual Quality Control doesn't scale.

The result depends on who reviewed that day, their experience level, and how many hours into their shift they were.

limbo/QC runs automated checks across cover, metadata, and audio before any release reaches a DSP. It flags AI-generated tracks that aren't properly declared, detects covers and shared beats, and stays up to date with store delivery rules so your team doesn't have to.

Fewer rejections. No missed release dates. No bottlenecks.

If you're a label with the artists and the catalog, but no platform and no DSP deals, you need one thing.

If you've already built your own app but still need the pipes and the deals behind it, you need something different.

If your deals are already in place and the pipes are what's missing, chances are you need one specific piece, not a whole new system.

And if you have it all, deals, app, and pipes, but volume is breaking your quality control, that's a completely different piece.

At limbo/, we built Music Blocks so you can activate exactly the modules you need.

We'd love to hear from you: what's your biggest bottleneck right now?

This is what White-label distribution actually looks like.

→ Your artists sign in, upload their releases, track their royalties, and never see our name.

You stay in control of your brand and your relationships.
Your artists get a self-service dashboard they can use whenever they need it, so your team spends less time answering emails about release status or royalty payments.

Meanwhile, distribution, quality control, and reporting happen behind the scenes.
No infrastructure to build. No platform to maintain.

The result? A better experience for your artists and a more scalable operation for your business.

Could this be the next step for your company?

Every team shipping music at volume knows the issues that slip through, and what they cost.

A rejection is a release that misses its date and a campaign that misses its window, and manual review was never designed for this.

So we built something that was.

Introducing 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗼/𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘁, a new venture between limbo/ and Beat Mobile.
Your automated quality control partner for metadata, audio, and artwork.

In an era where everything is becoming conversational, data shouldn't be the exception.

If you've spent hours jumping between dashboards, filtering date ranges, digging through catalog metrics without ever stopping to question the process, now might be the time.

It can be as simple as asking a question and letting your data answer.

That's the idea behind limbo/Chat.

An MCP server that connects to the AI tools your team already uses, shortening the distance between a question and an answer.

How does your business get answers today?
