We are a membership-based group of families who are raising our children in English, whether through the OPOL approach, minority language at home, or a similar approach. Some of us are families with parents of mixed origins, and others are Spanish families who have chosen to raise their children in English. The children in our families currently range in age from babies to around 11 years old, the
majority being between 3 and 8. We hold monthly activities in different places around the city, usually on a Sunday morning. Many of the families have traditionally lived in the north part of the city (hence the name of the group!), and we've done activities anywhere from Majadahonda, Sanchinarro, city center, Parque Juan Carlos I, etc. Our activities in the past have included visiting the horse racetrack, riding ponies, picnics in the park, visiting museums, and holiday-related parties. For each month 2-3 families are assigned to plan the activity on a rotating basis, and we're all very active in helping out the day of. We make every effort to keep the environment English-only so as to create the need to speak English.
