🩸 Deadpool – Short Story
Wade Wilson was never meant to be a hero.
After being diagnosed with terminal cancer, Wade is recruited into a secret experiment that promises a cure. The treatment works—but at a terrible cost. His body mutates, his face is left scarred, and his mind… cracks just enough to change everything.
What he gains instead is a powerful healing factor, making him nearly impossible to kill—similar to Wolverine, but with far less patience and way more chaos.
Wade becomes Deadpool—a mercenary in a red suit with swords, guns, and a mouth that never shuts up.
Unlike traditional heroes, he doesn’t fight for honor or glory. He fights for revenge, survival, and sometimes just because he’s bored. He cracks jokes mid-fight, breaks the fourth wall, and treats reality like it’s just another part of the joke.
But behind the humor is something real. Wade knows he’s broken—physically and emotionally. His jokes are armor. His violence is expression. And even though he pretends not to care, he still does… more than he’d ever admit
He takes on criminals, corrupt organizations, and anyone unlucky enough to cross him—leaving chaos behind him at every step. Plans fall apart, rules don’t apply, and somehow… things still work out
Because in the end, Deadpool isn’t a perfect hero
He’s an anti-hero—messy, loud, unpredictable… but when it really matters, he chooses to do the right thing
And then he looks straight at you and says:
“You’re welcome.” 😈🗡️

I’ve spent almost two decades involved in Parkinson’s advocacy, including serving on the board of the Michael J. Fox Foundation and now working alongside Acadia again to help bring more perspectives forward and create awareness around some of the lesser known aspects of PD. My family and I saw firsthand what it was like for my dad to experience Parkinson’s. We learned how important it is to have a community around you when dealing with the challenges and symptoms. It can feel disorienting, isolating, and scary. Some symptoms, including hallucinations and delusions, can be especially difficult to talk about, even though they’re common and treatable. For those experiencing Parkinson’s, it’s important to know you’re not alone. It’s vital to talk with caregivers and healthcare providers about symptoms early and openly.

Michael J. Fox has a fun little legacy as a “skater on screen,” even though he was never a professional skater. His most iconic moments came from Back to the Future (1985), where he trained for the skateboard chase scenes that became cultural classics. Fans loved the mix of agility, humor, & effortless cool he brought to those sequences, so directors often leaned into that energy in later roles.

That’s why his skating moment in Spin City (1996) stands out, it felt like a nostalgic nod to Marty McFly, showing Fox in motion again with the same charm & quick, playful style. Even though he didn’t consider himself a natural athlete, he always embraced the physical comedy & movement that made his characters so memorable.
