Manzanillo and Mr. Jayson L. Abrigo of Bicol University College of Industrial Technology (BUCIT).
The episode will explore the transformative role of education, technical skills, and livelihood training in the rehabilitation and personal development of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
Featuring the programs and initiatives of the BUCIT in partnership with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), the discussion will highlight experiences, accomplishments, and outcomes of efforts that bring learning and livelihood opportunities closer to PDLs.
Beyond training and technical education, the conversation will also look into restorative justice and rehabilitation - approaches that recognize that meaningful transformation extends beyond confinement and punishment. How can education and community-based interventions help prepare PDLs for productive reintegration into their families and communities?
As communities continue to seek more humane, inclusive, and sustainable approaches to rehabilitation, the episode invites us to reconsider what transformation can look like. Because a person’s circumstances may restrict their freedom, but learning can open pathways toward possibility.
