🌿 Extra virgin olive oil is more than an ingredient.

It is the product of agriculture, tradition, craftsmanship, science, and care. It connects us to the land, to culture, to food, and to generations of people who have dedicated their lives to its creation.

Behind every bottle are farmers, producers, millers, researchers, educators, retailers, chefs, and families whose knowledge and dedication have helped shape this remarkable food over centuries.

🫒 Today, extra virgin olive oil is produced in countries around the world and continues to play an important role in health, culinary heritage, agriculture, and daily life.

🌍 At Women In Olive Oil, we have the privilege of connecting with women from across the olive oil world-women from different countries, traditions, professions, and perspectives who share a deep respect for extra virgin olive oil and the people whose lives are intertwined with it.

✨ Our Commitment to Integrity reflects the values that guide our work and our belief that education, understanding, and appreciation help strengthen the future of extra virgin olive oil and support the people who dedicate their lives to producing it.

🌿 Growing Peace Through Olive Trees — and Stories
A new project in alignment with The Garden of Peace & Women in Olive Oil

The Garden of Peace is a living international initiative where 21 olive trees from 21 countries are growing together — not just as agricultural acts, but as acts of meaning.

Each garden is a space for reconciliation, encounter, and reflection. These trees serve as bridges between cultures, rooted in peace, diversity, and cooperation.

Women in Olive Oil (WIOO) shares this mission — connecting women across 40+ countries who work with olive oil as a way of life, expression, and healing.

Now, WIOO member and author Helen Melser (New Zealand) is launching a new book project that brings this shared spirit into story.

Through recipes, reflections, and traditions from olive oil producers, the book will amplify the voice of the gardens — turning trees into stories, and branches into bridges.

It’s a celebration of everyday wisdom — kitchens, families, and the landscapes that sustain us. A vision of food as a language of peace.

🌍 Countries involved in The Garden of Peace:
Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, United States.

🌿 Helen is looking for small growers or organisations with cross-cultural ties, stories of climate resilience, disease recovery, or social impact — or anyone with a meaningful story and connection to the Garden of Peace.

📩 One or two producers per country will be featured.
If you’re a WIOO grower or producer and want to learn more, contact Helen:

🌿 Our Member Spotlight: Rose Bechara Perini | Darmmess Olive Oil 🇱🇧

As shared in our newsletter this week, we are honored to spotlight Rose Bechara, founder of Darmmess Olive Oil and a beloved Women In Olive Oil.

Rose’s work in Lebanon reflects everything we stand for — integrity, tradition, and the power of women to protect land and culture through the olive tree. Her brand, Darmmess, is rooted in generations of care and a deep love for her community.

This past year, due to the ongoing conflict, Rose’s newly built olive mill was damaged and her groves were impacted, preventing a harvest. And still, she continues — showing remarkable strength and commitment to rebuilding.

At Women In Olive Oil, we are committed to uplifting producers like Rose — women who embody the future of ethical olive oil and community resilience.

✨ There are plans for a 2025 harvest, and your support now helps pave the way.

Let’s continue to stand with women growing something beautiful — even in the most difficult seasons.

She’s the founder of Tropicual, a bold extra virgin olive oil brand, and has recently expanded to a historic orchard in Granada’s UNESCO Global Geopark, now transitioning to organic regenerative farming.

Born in Switzerland and raised in Spain, Lucia studied International Business Management in the UK and France, and spent 15 years in the fintech and regtech industries before returning to the land — blending a global mindset with deep sustainability values.

✨ This call is open to all WIOO members. Join us as we dig into the theme of Crop Blossom — growth, change, and regeneration in our groves and beyond.

Happy Mother’s Day!

To all who mother—
Those who raise children, and those who nurture through wisdom, care, and love.

Today, we honor the spirit of motherhood in all its forms —
not only through parenting,
but in the quiet, powerful ways women tend to others,
to their communities,
to the land,
and to the work they believe in.

Like the olive tree —
Rooted. Resilient. Generous.
Whether you’ve nurtured a child,
a dream,
a harvest,
or a home —
you are part of what makes life flourish.

And we honor you — today and every day.

🌎 🌿 Where in the world is your olive oil from?

We love knowing the story behind the oil — the grove, the region, the people.

Right now in our kitchen, we’re using three separate oils from three incredible producers:
• One from Kalamata, Greece 🇬🇷
• One from 🇪🇸
• And one from Puglia, 🇮🇹

✨ When olive oil comes from a single origin — or even better, a single region — it often means:
• Faster milling after harvest
• Less transport and handling
• Fresher oil, richer flavor
• A deeper connection to the producer and place

There are over 45 countries producing olive oil today — and every bottle has a story worth telling.

📸 Tell us where your EVOO is from. Inspire us!
DM us a short video or photo — we’d love to share it in our stories.
