🌍♻️ What an incredible Día de Canarias beach cleanup today at Playa Enojados, Las Galletas! 🇮🇨💚

A huge thank you to everyone who joined on such a hot day and brought such amazing energy and community spirit with them. Over 50 people attended and together we collected more than 500kg of rubbish from the coastline. 🙌🌊

Special thanks to Clara and the Ayuntamiento de Arona for sponsoring the absolutely delicious paella 🥘, to Wanda, Hanna and all the Voluntarios Costa del Silencio for turning out in force and bringing such positive vibes, to Oasis FM for helping promote the event, and to our amazing sponsor 🍻 — a cold beer after a beach cleanup is always appreciated!

Today was a perfect example of community, teamwork and people coming together to protect the beautiful Canary Islands. 💙💛

We can all make a difference! Small habits become a huge problem at scale.

Using more water than necessary. Washing towels every day. Buying endless plastic bottles. Wet wipes ending up in the ocean.

One tourist doing it doesn’t seem like much.

But when millions of people do the same thing every year, the impact becomes impossible to ignore.

This is another clip from the recent episode featuring John Beckley from Canary Green, talking about tourism, sustainability and the future of the Canary Islands.

ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is an international standard for Environmental Management Systems. It applies to any type of organisation — not just tourism — and focuses on how environmental impacts are identified, managed, and monitored.

Important to note: it is not a tourism-specific label and does not assess whether a business is “sustainable.” Swipe for a full breakdown of what the standard covers and what it doesn’t. 🌿

ISO 14001 certified businesses in the Canary Islands are on our map — see on our website.

“We don’t even have to use the word sustainability anymore. It’s actually just common sense.”

🌍 Traffic. Housing problems. Plastic on beaches. Sewage in the ocean.

At some point, sustainability stops being a trendy buzzword and becomes a very real conversation about how we want places like Tenerife to look in 10 or 20 years.

This clip is from one of the two podcasts featuring John Beckley from Canary Green. In this one, together with , he talks about tourism, local communities and the future of the Canary Islands.

SICTED

SICTED is a Spanish destination quality programme administered by SETUR. It operates at destination level — a town or island joins first, then individual businesses can participate voluntarily.

It is primarily a quality programme, not an environmental certification. It covers visitor experience, service standards, and accessibility — not ecological performance. Swipe to see what the accreditation does and doesn’t cover. 🌿

SICTED-accredited businesses in the Canary Islands are on our map — see our website.
