MEET SARAH

Meet Sarah, Agarita’s Director of Finance and violinist, and one of our four founding musicians.

Sarah oversees Agarita’s financial management and planning, helping ensure that the organization remains strong and sustainable as our programming continues to grow.

She is also the violinist you see onstage at Agarita performances throughout the season.

That dual role is an important part of how Agarita operates. As both a founding musician and a member of our administrative leadership, Sarah has a hand in shaping the organization from the inside out—from long-term financial planning to the artistic work happening onstage.

Nine seasons in, that artist-led model remains at the heart of Agarita: the people making the music are also helping build and sustain the organization that makes it possible.

MEET MARISA

Meet Marisa Bushman, Agarita’s Executive Director and violist, and one of our four founding musicians.

As Executive Director, Marisa oversees Agarita’s overall direction—from fundraising and partnerships to organizational strategy, community relationships, and the many moving pieces that bring each season to life.

And then she picks up the viola.

That combination of artistic and organizational leadership has been part of Agarita from the beginning. The musicians you see onstage are also deeply involved in shaping the organization, its programs, and its future.

For Marisa, Agarita’s mission is also a personal one: creating exceptional artistic experiences while making them accessible to people throughout San Antonio.

Nine seasons in, you’ll find her just as often in a meeting, working on a grant, or talking with a community partner as you will onstage with the viola.

As we begin Agarita’s 9th season, we thought it was the perfect time to introduce the team behind Agarita.

What you see onstage is only one part of what makes Agarita happen. Behind every concert, school performance, exhibition, collaboration, and community event is a small team doing a lot of different things.

Over the next week, we’ll introduce you to the six people behind Agarita—from the musicians you see onstage to the people leading our education and visual arts programs—and share a little more about what each of us does.

We’re looking forward to giving you a glimpse behind the scenes as we begin Season 9!
