Spilled oil endangers both fresh water and marine habitats. It can harm the ecosystem in a variety of ways, including physical damage to species and their habitats (such as covering birds or mammals with an oil layer) and the toxicity of the oil itself, which can poison exposed organisms.

Now its time to take action and be part of the solution. Together we can protect our water forms and marine life. Always remember oil and water don't mix!

Sea-Yentist! is a student initiative based in Bicol University College of Science spearheaded by the BS Chemistry students of batch 2022. These "Heroes of the Blue Planet" are set on their purpose to raise awareness on the recurring environmental problems on oceans and to endorse a credible fundraising activity regarding ocean pollution with the theme "It's the Ocean, Not a Trash Can"

Together with their goal, they too intend to promote the Team Seas project (Ocean Cleanup Drive by famous youtuber James Steven Donaldson, AKA Mr. Beast, and Mark Rober.

Fatal blooms aren’t always venus fly traps and poisonous orchids. Most of the time and most alarmingly, they’re on our oceans—algal blooms! Harmless enough, beneficial even, on moderate amounts. However, like most situations, an excess of anything is a precursor to catastrophe.

Do you know how climate change, pollution, agricultural and industrial activities lead to harmful algal blooms in oceans? Have you heard about red tide? Have you seen scummy ocean waters? Do you know how algal blooms lead to deterioration of marine life? Have you thought about what we can do to change these? If you don’t, you probably should.

“Awareness precedes choice and choice precedes results” -Robin Sharma

Let’s be aware and let’s all start making the right choices. The Earth needs immediate results.

For many years now, the amount of plastics in the ocean is increasing in an unprecedented rate. 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥. This infographic shows a numerical data of what happens to plastic in the ocean and how many marine species get hurt due to various plastic-related reasons.

These numbers will go even higher if we don’t do anything. It is vital to lessen the plastic wastes generated and help promote cleaner, safer oceans.

It’s time to take action! 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀. A fundraising project that will be funding volunteer groups and robotic machines that will help in ocean cleanup.

𝙄𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙮𝙤𝙪! Your single effort will have a significant impact. So be the one! Join us and together, let’s take good care of our oceans and make plastic-free oceans a reality.

Ocean acidification is not something that could be fixed overnight. Rather, multiple effort is needed to win against this problem. Every action counts, no matter how small it is. Collectively, our small actions will surely make a difference.

Help us in this battle against ocean acidification by supporting and donating any amount to the project, a project intended to clean and save our seas. Click this link https://teamseas.org/ and let us all take our small steps to be a part of this quest to save our oceans and every organism that depends on it.

Earth Pre-mortem: The Correlation between the Industrial Revolution and Marine Life

Plastic straws stuck inside the nose of sea turtles. Garbage amassing inside the gastric sacks of our marine mammals. Not to mention the dangerous chemicals deposited in our deep waters. How much more damage can we incur?

Read on to discover more on how the industrial revolution is slowly killing our blue planet.
