🧐Have you ever noticed that even angel sharks can have lice?

Yes, you read that right. This little angel has a marine leeche clinging to it (Aegapheles deshaysiana), a small parasitic isopod found in the Mediterranean and the north-eastern Atlantic.

These organisms attach themselves to angel sharks and feed on their blood.

👀 Have you ever seen one? Let us know in the comments!

Sí, has leído bien.

Did you know that angel sharks have two apertures on the dorsal side?🤔

🌟These are the spiracles.

🫧The spiracles are small openings located behind the eyes that allow water to enter the respiratory system. These modified gill openings allow water to flow towards the gills, where oxygen is extracted, whilst the shark is buried in the sand or resting on the seafloor. This adaptation allows angel sharks to remain still and camouflaged while continuing to breathe.
