CATLAND JAVEA (CIF No G-42561464 and Non-Profit Charity No CV-01-059013-A) All over Spain, there are colonies of cats that are growing by the day. These cats are living in terrible conditions and rely on volunteers to feed and care for them. This is not a long-term solution, which is why we are starting

with our local community of Javea, and building Catland – a cat shelter. We have raised enough money to start the build, but we need your help to finish and open the shelter. We are working with a registered veterinarian under a full zoological license. Catland will offer shelter to a maximum of 120 cats at a time. Cats that can live as house pets, will be offered for rehoming. We will continue to work with and support the local Trap-Neuter-Return program carried out by Javea Feral Cats. Neutered cats that are suitable for a life as a pet will be taken into the shelter. We will care for them until we find them a forever home. Whilst preparing for the build of the shelter, we have formed a team of loyal and dedicated volunteers. This team has rescued, fostered, and rehomed dozens of cats into loving local homes. We also found a trusted partner in the Little Tigers Foundation in the Netherlands. With their help, we have been to find amazing Dutch homes for our cats. With the opening of the shelter, we aim to find more trusted partners abroad to help find loving homes for our cats. Last but certainly not least, education is another important goal of our organisation. We believe educating the local community about animal welfare, cat grooming and the importance of sterilisation is the key to improving the fate of many Spanish stray cats. The build of the shelter has started and we expect to welcome our first cats soon!

🐾 LUCAS NEEDS A FAMILY 🐾

This is a heartbreaking story. Please take a moment to read Lucas’s story, it is sad a little convoluted but he needs help!

Lucas came to our attention a few weeks ago. He was a much-loved cat who enjoyed his freedom and the outdoors, and for some time he was being cared for by a family living on an urbanisation.

💔 What happened?

A neighbour complained because she was afraid of cats. The authorities were informed, and Catland was asked to attend and help.

When Lucas was checked, we discovered that he was microchipped.

A few years ago, Lucas had been given up for adoption by his original family, who were moving into an apartment. Knowing how much Lucas loved being outdoors and having his freedom, they believed they were doing the right thing for him by finding him a family where he could continue to enjoy that lifestyle.

Lucas was adopted, but unfortunately, his microchip was never changed to the new family’s details.

Initially, the new family kept in touch with Lucas’s original owners, sending them photos and updates. But eventually, communication stopped.

What nobody knew was that Lucas had disappeared. No one searched for him.

Eventually, Lucas found another family and made himself at home with them. Sadly, the neighbour’s complaint meant that this family could no longer keep him, as Lucas needs access to the outdoors and this was not permitted.

Because his microchip still contained the original owner’s details, Lucas was eventually reunited with his first family.

But now he faces another difficult situation.

🏠 Lucas is living in an apartment, and he is not happy. The original owner wants the best for Lucas and is heartbroken and is worried about the boy.

He is an active boy who is used to having his freedom and being able to explore. He is also at risk of escaping because he desperately wants to get outside.

❤️ Lucas deserves a fresh start.

Lucas is a sweet, loving, affectionate boy. He is castrated and now needs a special family who understands his needs and, most importantly, can offer him the safe outdoor access and freedom he has always known.

We are desperately hoping to find Lucas the right home and a family who will give him security, love, patience and the freedom he needs to be happy.

Lucas llegó a nuestro conocimiento hace unas semanas. Era un gato muy querido al que le encantaba su libertad y estar al aire libre. Durante un tiempo, una familia que vivía en una urbanización se hizo cargo de él.
💔 ¿Qué pasó?
Una vecina se quejó porque tenía miedo de los gatos. Se informó a las autoridades y se pidió a Catland que acudiera para ayudar.
Cuando revisamos a Lucas, descubrimos que tenía microchip.
Hace unos años, Lucas había sido dado en adopción por su familia original, que se mudaba a un apartamento. Sabiendo cuánto le gustaba a Lucas estar al aire libre y disfrutar de su libertad, creyeron que estaban haciendo lo mejor para él al encontrarle una familia donde pudiera seguir disfrutando de ese estilo de vida.
Lucas fue adoptado, pero, lamentablemente, nunca se cambiaron los datos del microchip a nombre de su nueva familia.
Al principio, la nueva familia mantenía el contacto con los antiguos propietarios de Lucas, enviándoles fotos y contándoles cómo estaba. Pero, con el tiempo, la comunicación se interrumpió.
Lo que nadie sabía era que Lucas había desaparecido. Nadie lo buscó.
Finalmente, Lucas encontró otra familia y se instaló con ellos como si siempre hubiera pertenecido allí. Por desgracia, la queja de la vecina hizo que esta familia ya no pudiera quedarse con él, ya que Lucas necesita tener acceso al exterior y eso no estaba permitido.
Como el microchip todavía contenía los datos de su familia original, finalmente Lucas se reunió con ellos.
Pero ahora se enfrenta a otra situación difícil.
🏠 Lucas vive en un apartamento y no es feliz.
Es un gato activo, acostumbrado a tener libertad y poder explorar. Además, existe el riesgo de que escape, porque desea desesperadamente salir al exterior.
❤️ Lucas merece una nueva oportunidad.
Lucas es un gato dulce, cariñoso y afectuoso. Está castrado y ahora necesita una familia especial que comprenda sus necesidades y que, sobre todo, pueda ofrecerle un acceso seguro al exterior y la libertad que siempre ha conocido.
Tenemos la esperanza de encontrar desesperadamente el hogar adecuado para Lucas: una familia que le dé seguridad, amor, paciencia y la libertad que necesita para ser feliz.

Update! Sadly, she lost her fight for life. 💔 This is devastating news for the whole team, and especially for her colony carer, who cared for her so deeply. At least we were able to catch her and make sure she didn’t die alone or suffering.
Rest in peace, sweet girl. 💜 You will be missed.

💔 She Would Have Died Without Help… But Last Night, Everything Changed 🐾
This tiny girl weighs just 2kg. She is skin and bones and desperately unwell.
Her colony feeder had tried numerous times to catch her, but every attempt failed. She simply would not go into the trap.
Knowing that something was seriously wrong, the feeder reached out to Catland for help.
Last night, she finally sat still long enough for us to use a net.
It isn't the prettiest way to catch a cat but ,when a cat is in danger and refuses every other option, sometimes you have to do whatever it takes to save her life.
She was immediately rushed to the municipal veterinary clinic, where José Luis Genovés Garcia stabilised her and started emergency treatment.
But today came the shocking discovery.
What is believed to be a dog bite to her stomach area had become horribly infected. The infection had spread across an enormous area almost a quarter of her tiny body.
And the smell…
It was putrid.
This little cat had been carrying around a devastating infection, yet somehow she was still surviving.
Without rescue, she would almost certainly have died.
But now, for the first time, she has a chance. ❤️
The infected area was extensively cleaned and medication was injected. She will remain with José Luis while she recovers, receiving daily wound cleaning, treatment and veterinary care.
And there is something very special about this little girl.
She is a true colony cat.
She doesn't want a home. She belongs to her colony.
So our hope is not to change who she is but, to give her back the life she was meant to have.
Once she is healed and strong enough, we hope she can return to her colony, where she can live out her days safely, free and away from the dangers that nearly killed her.
Last night, she was a 2kg, critically ill little cat fighting to survive.
Today, she is a little cat with a chance. 🐾❤️
Please keep this brave girl in your thoughts as she begins the long road to recovery.

¡Actualización! Lamentablemente, perdió su lucha por la vida. 💔 Es una noticia devastadora para todo el equipo, y especialmente para la persona que cuidaba de su colonia, que se preocupó muchísimo por ella. Al menos pudimos atraparla y asegurarnos de que no muriera sola ni sufriendo.

💔 Habría mu**to sin ayuda… pero anoche, todo cambió 🐾
Esta pequeña pesa tan solo 2 kg. Está en los huesos y se encuentra gravemente enferma.
La persona que alimenta a su colonia había intentado atraparla numerosas veces, pero todos los intentos habían fracasado. Simplemente no quería entrar en la jaula trampa.
Sabiendo que algo iba muy mal, la alimentadora pidió ayuda a Catland.
Anoche, finalmente se quedó quieta el tiempo suficiente para que pudiéramos atraparla con una red.
No es la forma más bonita de capturar a un gato, pero cuando un gato está en peligro y rechaza cualquier otra opción, a veces hay que hacer lo que sea necesario para salvarle la vida.
Fue trasladada inmediatamente a la clínica veterinaria municipal, donde José Luis Genovés García la estabilizó y comenzó el tratamiento de emergencia.
Pero hoy llegó el descubrimiento que nos dejó en shock.
Lo que se cree que fue una mordedura de perro en la zona del abdomen se había infectado terriblemente. La infección se había extendido por una zona enorme, casi una cuarta parte de su pequeño cuerpo.
Y el olor…
Era putrefacto.
Esta pequeña gata llevaba consigo una infección devastadora y, de alguna manera, todavía seguía luchando por sobrevivir.
Sin ayuda, casi con toda seguridad habría mu**to.
Pero ahora, por primera vez, tiene una oportunidad. ❤️
La zona infectada fue limpiada a fondo y se le administró medicación. Permanecerá con José Luis mientras se recupera, recibiendo limpieza diaria de la herida, tratamiento y cuidados veterinarios.
Y hay algo muy especial en esta pequeña.
Es una auténtica gata de colonia.
No quiere un hogar. Ella pertenece a su colonia.
Por eso, nuestra esperanza no es cambiar quién es, sino devolverle la vida que estaba destinada a tener.
Cuando esté completamente recuperada y lo suficientemente fuerte, esperamos que pueda regresar a su colonia, donde pueda vivir muchos años, segura, libre y alejada de los peligros que casi acabaron con su vida.
Anoche era una pequeña gata de 2 kg, gravemente enferma y luchando por sobrevivir.
Hoy es una pequeña gata con una oportunidad. 🐾❤️

Today I met two very special little Catland boys and spent time with their wonderful foster carer. ❤️
These beautiful brothers are around 3½ months old now. They're healthy, playful, endlessly affectionate, and absolutely adore people. They have done everything right, they have grown, they have learned to trust, and now they're simply waiting...
Waiting for someone to see them. Waiting for someone to choose them. Waiting for a family to call their own.
They are 100% ready for their forever home, but they can't find it without our help.
Please SHARE, SHARE, SHARE. Your share could be the one that reaches the person who falls in love with them. Together, let's make sure these precious boys don't grow up waiting when they deserve to grow up surrounded by love. 🐾❤️

A young lady has tragically and unexpectedly passed away, leaving behind her four adored cats. Owner wants his property back now 😱
They are currently being fed in the apartment, but this is only a temporary solution. Time is running out.
All four are castrated boys, very loving and sociable, and will be veterinary checked and vaccinated before being rehomed.
