THE STATISTICS OF THE JÁVEA PROPERTY MARKET 2026
This Thursday, 22 October at 11.00 am, we are pleased to welcome guest speakers from the long-established and respected Estate Agents, Jávea Home Finders: This presentation provides an overview of the Jávea property market in 2026, using a combination of official market data and Jávea Home Finders’ own sales statistics. It looks at property price trends, price per square metre, buyer and seller profiles, international demand, sales performance, online activity and changes in Jávea’s population, giving a clear picture of how the local market has evolved and where it stands today. INTERNET VIA STARLINK SATELLITES - WILL IT REPLACE FIBRE OPTIC?
Broadband cables can be an eyesore. They get broken carelessly and don’t even reach some houses. Internet via 4G and 5G has patchy coverage. Why not connect to the Internet via satellite from anywhere? This Thursday, 15 October at 11.00 am, we’ll find out how Starlink technology works, discuss its strengths and weaknesses and its place in the future.

Update on TV Via the Internet (IPTV)
Many club members receive UK TV via the Internet, but Spanish authorities are clamping down hard on providers while bogus sellers and malware-loaded firesticks proliferate. This Thursday, 8 October (10.45 for 11.00 am), we’ll analyse the situation and what the future may hold, discuss how members get their streaming TV entertainment and share our issues and favourite tips. WHATSAPP WORKSHOP (PART 2)
On 1st October (10.45 for 11.00 am) our Thursday workshop will investigate more ways to use WhatsApp. We will review questions and issues from the previous session and delve into more features such as Group Chats, use of the Desktop App, and broadcasts. We will also look at how to save images and documents from WhatsApp chats. Come along to discover more and share your tips and experiences. WHAT? CAN YOU REALLY DO THAT WITH WHATSAPP?
WhatsApp is much more than just a messaging app. It has a whole range of nifty capabilities which many people don’t know about. Many of them are new. This Thursday, September 24 (10.45 for 11 a.m.), we’ll experiment with some of these useful features and discuss members’ WhatsApp problems, queries and tricks: such as how to save images and videos from chats so you can find them easily later. CLAUDE AT YOUR SERVICE! WORKING WITH AI TO CREATE A USEFUL APP, JUST BY HAVING A CHAT
This Thursday, 17 September (10.45 for 11.00 am), guest speaker Mark Peterson and Claude AI will give us a live demonstration of creating an app to check if there are internet links on JCC website pages which don’t work (i.e. are “broken”). We have heard a lot about AI, and many of us use it for searching and summarising documents – but making apps through chat (Vibe coding) remains a mystery…until this Thursday. Come along to be amazed - non-members welcome at €5 p.p.. Claude will explain what it’s doing in plain English, step by step, so that non-techies can understand what its up to.

GOOGLE SEARCH, CHROME AND GEMINI JUST BECAME SMARTER
In August, Google started to release major updates to its AI tools, including Search, which many of us use all the time, and Gemini, its digital assistant. The Chrome browser, for both desktop and phone, can quickly summon additional tools, just by you asking it a question. This Thursday, September 10 (10.45 for 11 a.m.) we will explore some of these new capabilities and discuss how we, and our families, might use them. We will also look at some of the major public service projects being developed and supported by Google’s AI. USING YOU TUBE TO STORE AND SHARE YOUR HOME MOVIES AND VIDEO CLIPS
Did you know that Google account holders can upload an unlimited number of videos to YouTube for free?. These can be kept private (so only you can see them); or unlisted, (so they don’t appear in Google searches, but friends and family can watch them via a link); or public for the whole world to see. This Thursday, Sept 3rd at (10.45 for 11.00 am), Chris will demonstrate how to set up a personal YouTube channel (you can have up to 100 channels per Gmail account) and how to upload a clip. We’ll also discuss how YouTube stores all these umpteen videos and the problems it has in this age of deepfakes and mass AI-generated content.

We are always running out of cloud storage for our photos and videos, and we’d like to share these with friends and family. The good news is that there is a huge number of alternatives, many with free “starter” accounts. The problem is choosing the right one for you. This Thursday, August 27 (10.45 for 11.00 am) we’ll examine the features, pluses and minuses of some of the best-reviewed and most secure cloud photo storage options you might like to try. WIKIPEDIA IS MORE THAN JUST A FREE ENCYCLOPAEDIA
Wikipedia is hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation, a non-profit organisation that also hosts a range of other projects including books, media, data and even a travel guide. It is created and maintained by an online community of volunteers, which means that any of us can contribute and (importantly) correct mistakes we may find. This Thursday, 20 August (10.45 for 11.00 am) we will explore the many things Wikipedia has to offer, and see how articles can be edited.
