Javea Connect Information Local News and Information Page linking to The Javea Connect Facebook Group Once upon a time…. And that is where it all started! Salud! Loraine Gostling.

there was a bar in Balcon-al-Mar, Javea which was taken over in 2008 by a “rookie” London/Scotland partnership. We would have local customers and holiday-makers visit us who thought we would know everything there is to know about our lovely town. Unfortunately ( as most bar owners will appreciate we did not, as we very rarely managed to escape from behind the ramp ! Then one day, I had a bright

idea ( not that common I will have you know) and as I sat at my computer I thought it may make life easier for the ” Balcon-al-Martians” and Javea inhabitants in general, if they could all meet up in a Facebook cyber -bar and ask each other for advice, or sell and buy their unwanted stuff, see if anyone was going to or coming from the airport, find a babysitter/mechanic etc etc… you get my drift . At that moment Javea Connect was born. I introduced about 80 of my customers and friends and published the group. This auspicious occasion was in March 2011 and now, 6 years on, the group membership has grown to almost 14,000. I have received a tremendous amount of support over the years by a few very good friends without whom the success of the group would not have happened. My sincere thanks go to my loyal and selfless c0-admins, Hannah Williams, Gwenda Robinson, Kenn Walters and my daughter Karlee .

The Red Cross has launched its 2026 heatwave awareness campaign, urging people to take simple precautions to stay safe during periods of extreme heat.

While older people, children and those with health conditions remain the most vulnerable, this year’s campaign places special focus on outdoor workers, who face increased risks of heatstroke and dehydration.

Key advice includes drinking water regularly, avoiding the hottest part of the day, wearing light clothing, using sun protection and taking frequent breaks in shaded areas.

Last summer, the Red Cross assisted more than 62,000 people across Spain through information campaigns, welfare calls, home visits and direct support. A recent survey found that 90% of participants found the advice useful, while 88% said it helped them avoid serious heat-related problems.

Mysterious Structures Off Javea Coast Spark Curiosity

Residents and tourists in Javea were left puzzled after two large metal structures appeared to be rising out of the sea near Cap Prim on Sunday morning.

Visible from several points along the coastline, the towering structures stood prominently above the water, leading many people to wonder what they were and why they were there. The unusual sight quickly became a talking point among bathers, walkers and local residents.

The structures were later identified as offshore industrial platforms operating in the area. However, their appearance on the horizon created an eye-catching and unexpected spectacle that attracted plenty of attention and speculation throughout the day.

The sight served as a reminder that unusual maritime operations can sometimes be seen off the Costa Blanca coast, even if they initially appear mysterious to those on shore.

Pol🌊 Last evening, colleagues from the Local Police attended a service on the beach after a woman was injured when she was swimming.

Although they look tiny and harmless, their wells can cause painful injuries and complications if not done correctly.

👉 Recommendations:
• Use scrubs in rocky areas.
• Avoid walking barefoot among stones.
• Don't try to extract the wells abruptly.
• Clean the area and go to a sanitary point if there are any stuck debris or inflammation appears.

Enjoying the sea is also doing it with caution 🌊☀️
