We are incredibly grateful to one of our amazing supporters from Northern Ireland, who is fundraising in memory of his beloved rescue Labrador, Sam. ❤️🐾

After losing Sam in February, Nathan wanted to honour the 12½ wonderful years they shared by giving back to rescue dogs in need.

As a charity run entirely by volunteers, we rely solely on donations to continue rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming dogs across the EU. Every rescue, every vet visit and every journey to a forever home is only possible because of the kindness of people like you.

If you’d like to support this incredible fundraiser in Sam’s memory, every donation—big or small—will make a real difference.

It’s Summer, the suns out and temperatures are at there highest ☀️

Preventing overheating is much easier than treating it, so adjusting your dog’s routine on hot days is one of the best ways to keep them safe.

If it’s too hot, they don’t need the walk. They’ll be absolutely fine without it. Stick to early morning or late evening when it’s cooler.

Heatstroke is largely preventable. Don’t let a routine walk turn into an emergency. Keep your dog safe 🐾

"Think a 6ft fence will keep a Podenco in? Think again…"

Podencos are incredible athletes and can clear a 6ft fence from almost a standing start.

If anyone thinks that's an exaggeration, meet Simo!

There was little point putting him in a specific paddock because he would simply hop over the internal fencing and decide for himself where he wanted to be.

So, when a rescue refuses an adoption application because the fencing is considered too low, please don't take it personally.

I completely understand that not everyone wants, or is able, to take on the expense of adding additional fencing. However, our responsibility is to ensure a Podenco doesn't escape, become lost, or suffer a serious injury.

In fairness, over the years very few of our Podencos have actually jumped fences, but is it worth taking the risk?

No, it isn't.

Sometimes rescue decisions can be disappointing, but every requirement we have is made with one thing in mind: keeping these incredible dogs safe.😊
