More than 1,550 people have now signed a petition to save two historic Cala Llonga chiringuitos from closure and demolition.

The campaign is defending Kiosco Pedro, now known as La Casa on The Beach, and Kiosco Hollywood, two family-run beach bars that have been part of the area for around 40 to 50 years.

Both venues have been unable to open since 2025 due to Spain’s Coastal Law, which bans fixed concrete structures on public maritime land, even though these kiosks were built decades before the rule came into force.

Supporters say the beach has lost part of its atmosphere without them, with residents and long-time visitors sharing memories of summers spent there over the years. 🌊

The petition has already reached 1,559 signatures and keeps growing, with organisers saying they are “emotional” and proud of the response from such a small area.

The two chiringuitos also support around 20 seasonal jobs. If nothing changes, they could be demolished and replaced by removable wooden structures put out to public tender. 😕
