“My Experience on the Training Course Media Literacy Empowered, in Serbia!”
⏩The European project Media Literacy Empowered, hosted in Niš, Serbia, offered participants an inspiring week of learning and cultural exchange from 4 to 11 August. Organized by the Club for Youth Empowerment 018 (KOM 018) in cooperation with Beyond Borders – Italy, the training gathered more than 30 young people and youth workers from across Europe.
Representing Spain, the socio-cultural association VerdeSur Alcalá (ASCVA) actively engaged in workshops and activities designed to raise awareness about the influence of media. Participants explored new tools to recognize manipulation, develop critical thinking skills, and promote responsible online behavior.
The sessions covered a variety of topics, including:
- Digital footprints and online safety;
- The impact of social media on identity and community;
- Strategies for identifying fake news;
- How to create counter-narratives to promote tolerance and inclusion.
Alongside the formal training, participants enjoyed an intercultural evening where traditions, food, and music from each country were shared. The Spanish group delighted everyone with tortilla de patatas, manchego cheese, and traditional songs.
