La Loma Viva is creating a regenerative human habitat in harmony with nature. www.lalomaviva.com

Using the tools of Permaculture Design and Syntropic Farming, we are producing our food and other human needs while also looking after the environment. La Loma Viva is 10 hectares of ancient terraced farm land, located in the province of Granada, Southern Spain. It was an old productive farm which had been abandoned for many years due to drought. It is currently being transformed using Permacultur

e, a revolutionary approach to sustainable agriculture. Through observation, we try to mimic the workings of nature and through intelligent design, aim to reproduce healthy natural systems. The land, water, plants and energy are managed consciously - with few external inputs and producing minimal waste. We would also like to create an experiential and educational space for courses, retreats and as a demonstration site.

A lovely little early tomato 🍅 harvest 😍 Days are hotting up rapidly 🥵 It’s already difficult to be outside after 11 am and we already putting fans on in the house. But these little babies are the reward for living in a hot climate.

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks and we are bracing for more! We’ve been praying for rain for 5 years and the water gods have all now responded together! We had waterfalls and streams running through the land after so much drought! As they say “the desert is a flood waiting to happen!’ Stay safe everyone 🤞🏾

These days we always have to be ready for the unexpected. This year we got a surprise with the first ever snow up here. The last time there was snow in our village was 20 years ago. It also came with a good dose of much needed rain 🌧️ So we are coming to the end of another year with much more hope and blessings from the sky. Everything looks sparkly and bright for the last days of 2025 ❄️⛄️🙌🌧️🥳🤩

We had such an abundant and fun-filled olive harvest this year! Thanks to the autumn rains which finally came after many dry years and to beautiful friends who helped us 🫶🏽 Big thanks to Serena for wonderful photos ❤️
