Illustrated talks are held once a month between October and May at the San Roque Golf Club, Spain on the third Wednesday of each month. Lecture starts at 11.00 am and doors close at 10.50 am. Visitors welcome.

We ended our season in style, celebrating a wonderful year of inspiring lectures, fascinating events, and great friendships at the beautiful La Finca Thai Fusion restaurant in Alcaidesa.

Guests enjoyed delicious food, music Elizabeth Zeder and the chance to discover unique creations from talented local artists, all within a stunning garden setting.
The afternoon concluded with a special video presentation paying tribute to the many people who have helped shape our society over the past 20 years, and to the members whose continued support keeps it thriving today.

As we close this chapter, we look forward to an exciting new season beginning in October. Our new programme will be announced soon!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey.

Huge thanks to Kasia Art for a creative and inspiring morning at The San Roque Club!

Our theme was “new beginnings”, and everyone painted their own interpretations, so many beautiful variations. Seeing everyone’s art and enjoying the company was truly uplifting. 🥰

We were delighted to welcome first-time visitors Cecilia & Mikael to our recent lecture — and even more delighted when Cecilia shared these wonderful photographs and memories with us. Cecilia’s mother is pictured here in a beautiful haute couture Dior suit — a Swedish-made couture copy from the post-war era, reflecting the elegance and craftsmanship of the time. Set within a classic couture salon, one photograph evokes a time when clients sat in quiet anticipation as models presented each design in turn — a vivid glimpse into the ritual and elegance of mid-20th-century fashion. Another image carries a particularly charming story. While sitting at a café in Salzburg watching a local beauty competition, the judge approached Cecilia’s mother and declared, “Here we have the most beautiful girl in the city — I pronounce you Miss Salzburg.” She was escorted to the podium and presented with flowers — a moment delightfully captured in time. We were also treated to a remarkable video clip, created using modern AI techniques by Dr Paul Lillico from a 1940s photograph of Cecilia’s mother modelling — a fascinating blend of past and present. These shared memories are what make The Arts Society so special — art, fashion and history brought vividly to life through personal stories and connections. Thank you, Cecilia & Mikael, for enriching our morning so beautifully 💛

• Christian Dior used perfume on his clothes to create a full sensory brand experience — fashion + fragrance = iconic luxury 👗🌸

• Cristóbal Balenciaga was so ahead of his time that other designers studied and copied his silhouettes

• Jacques Fath helped bring glamour back to Paris couture after WWII but tragically died at a young age

Yeah… most of us didn’t know this either 😅�But we showed up curious for yesterday’s lecture (Couture’s Holy Trinity) and left inspired, making some lovely new connections along the way.
