Silver Paws - La Cruz started out called "Tufas Trust" and was founded by Rich and Sam Mayfield in 2002, one year before the

y started "The Orange House" an adventure centre and hostel in Finestrat, the "day job" you could say and bill payer. The first dog rescued by the couple was a huskie cross kept in horrible conditions. Rich had to jump over a fence to retrieve her. That was the start of many, many dogs been given the chance of a much better life. In 2025 after rehoming 1000s of dogs we have now decided to have a change of direction
We thank you with all our hearts for a euro or many euros it's all as important to the animals.

Thanks Liz and Matt for working so hard with Zane. 1 week gone and he is a different dog from the terrified one he was here.

Thanks to Jeannette van Asperen at Huize Zwerfhond yet again for finding the home for our beautiful little Mary.

Thanks to Tray Hughes for sharing and allowing her mate to spot Rex. Wow what a life he will have.

Jenny Rawle thanks for the offer to try with Cookie she really needs to be an ongoing dog and this could be good for her.

Then my mate Susanne over the riverbed who will foster Teddy, Walter and Ernie to give them a chance to be spoilt.

I think everyone in rescue will agree that a good night's sleep is like gold dust!

I don't think I have had one unbroken night in 6 months. It's one thing or another, and the move has upset the dogs more than I thought possible.

They love it up here but we have so much wildlife around us and as it's hot I guess they are all sleeping outside of the little areas. Also other dogs barking over the valley etc etc

Brian has been one of the worst, barking and whining no matter where he was, sofa in the lounge or the utility room with the little ones. One night at 3am I put him in my car arghhhh!! If he was in the bedroom he would walk around and p*e etc etc

Well this photo might not be important to many people but it's made life alot easier for me and this little old man.

It's in the corner of our huge bedroom, he has a fluffy blanket and a teddy bear. He can see me but he can't wander around early doors.

SILENT NIGHT FOR 3 NIGHTS, BLISS.

Rescue persons dream night.....

Goodnight Brian ###

New life, new name! Jenny. Why?

Well it was Jenny Screen that asked me to help and my bestie Jenny Rawle is here this week and she has taken her under her wing and is helping me with her. Sleeping in her room under the table lol

So yesterday vet visit and sad news.

She has a dislocated shoulder.
She has an ear infection.
She has rotten teeth.

We took her bloods and listen to her heart.

Good news, liver kidney all ok and we await the Leish test. Heart sounds good and strong.

We can't imagine the pain she has been and still is in. We have sent the x-ray to the orthopaedic surgeon and maybe he will want more details one when we do her teeth next week. Once we know the results of Leish test of course.

She is so bloody happy and her tail never stops wagging, she is a little miracle.

We got you Little Jenny.

Thank you so much everyone for the donations so far I think we have around 200 euros. I will know more later what else we need.

UPDATE

She slept so well last in my friends room and no mess.

This morning we had alot of barking, each dog she met, when she couldn't see us, when she wanted outside etc etc.

We made her a bed in the kitchen (dog free zone) and she loves it.

Tomorrow she will see the vets and have an x-ray and get her passport. She doesn't answer to Canela and I would like to have a new name for a new life.

This afternoon sooo much better and she is calmer. Dogs know when we love them and want only the best.

What do we think suits her?

THANK YOU FOR THE AMAZING DONATIONS SO FAR.... WE LOVE YOU

Saturday night - I get a message with photos and videos from Jenny Screen about a little Podenco in Granada. I glance at the photos and say " sorry Jen, I already have way too many,"

I have no idea why but before bed I watch the videos, I cry and immediately message and say I'll take her, put me in touch.

Sunday morning - I am asked for my details for her passport to be made and I ask " do you know anyone transport people, no reply.

Monday morning - I messaged Sharon Thompson at Homewardbound while having a coffee, " you sometimes go south, are you due to collect any dogs soonish?"

Ten mins later my phone rings, it's Martin " Sam where in Granada exactly as I'm here now!! NO WAY!!

A few frantic messages to the women involved and she is on the van within the hour. I know don't get me started on "magic happens!"

I drove to collect her in Alicante as Sharon and Martin kept her safe a few hours for me and we bring her back to start her new life.

I asked the women who had worked hard to get her over the years her back history. I got this message and cried again!

" Canela was kept outside in a small kennel, chained up for almost her entire life and constantly abused by her owner. This went on for 10 years.
The injuries were due to constant beatings; she was severely malnourished, weak, and very thin. Because the owner thought she was going to die, he gave her to us after much insistence."

WE GOT THIS CANELA.

Vets for x-rays tomorrow as we think both front legs have been broken. We will need help with funds.

HELP!! Hard to believe but he is been picked on!!

Rex has now been back with me for 18 months now. Return by his owners after only 8 months.
Loved and then let down.....

He is 2 next month and this gentle giant is so desperate for love he keeps escaping and getting himself into trouble. He just wants to get to us.

We have a house full of old little ones and it's just not big enough for him too.

It's breaking my heart so I'll try again with another post saying

ANYONE OUT THERE FOR HIM???

Please share, we even have a sponsor who had offered to pay his transport to the UK.

Gentle giant who is good with females and older dogs, anyone that's a tad aggressive and he will try and be the boss.

Thank you so much for the donations made today for the moving of the kennels.

Some found it much easier to use this link so I have made the amount now lower as we made the target of 1800 last time.

I think with 800 I can move the kennels and install them with an automatic water system and tile the floors.

We have a dream which is to allow all the old dogs that live with us the freedom to come on walks a… Sam Mayfield needs your support for Fencing for freedom

Third message from another good friend!!

2 dogs in a shelter a bonded pair and the shelter keep splitting them up and one has been attacked by another dog.

She asked could I take them and of course I said yes.

BUT I need help financially to dismantle and reassemble the large 3 room dog kennel from the old place. I'm not saying I will put these dogs in there but I need options until everyone settles down.

Luigi and Max really liked those kennels and had a room each so maybe they go in etc...

I have strong blokes on hand on Monday but I have to pay them as it's impossible to do fast on our own.

I would normally pay this but the vet bill last month was 1000 euros as we spayed and castrated quite a few and of course paid for Clara Leish treatment.

Any help of course would be bloody amazing ..
