The Elephant Orphanage Project (EOP) was established in southern Kafue National Park, Zambia, in 2007. Its mission to rescue, rehabilitate and release orphaned elephants back into the wild. This is the shocking bit! 100 African Elephants are killed for their ivory every day – shot by poachers who target the larger bulls and matriarchal females because their tusks are largest. phant calves often witness unimaginable violence and cruelty during these attacks, often seeing their mothers murdered in front of them... The EOP are there to feed, nurse and care for these babies, repairing both their physical and emotional scares. Under the banner of the IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare), we (fdceb.eu) are raising awareness and money to aid this project, helping to cover the costs of caring for these animals and ensuring African Elephants do not become extinct within the next 10 years... which they will, if we do not act now! We can make a difference by supporting this project which covers all aspects of ensuring the survival of these animals, including education and community outreach programs locally, law enforcement and protection (anti-poaching and anti-trafficking), as well as running the orphanage.
