Center for Cooperative Research in Biosciences Every year, The Center commits more than 5.5 million € to research and dedicates 450 thousand € to Ph.D. training.

CIC bioGUNE (Center for Cooperative Research in Biosciences), a non-profit biomedical research organization, founded in 2002 at the initiative of the Department of Industry of the Basque Government, opened its research facilities at the Technology Park of Bizkaia in January 2005. Since then, CIC bioGUNE has been playing a strong role in advancing biomedical research and technological innovation in the Basque Country. To support the research activities of The Center’s scientists and students CIC bioGUNE made an investment of more than 35 million € in state-of-the-art research infrastructure - in genomics, gene silencing, proteomics, metabolomics, NMR, electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and computer and animal facilities, among others. It employs 22 research group leaders, more than 85 postdocs, technicians and engineers, and provides training opportunities to over twenty Ph.D. students each year.

The 8th Grupo Español Innovación e Investigación en Vesículas Extracelulares International Symposium brought together 295 experts from 20 countries and 45 speakers to explore advances in extracellular vesicles, exosomes and their biomedical applications

Coordinated by through its Exosomes Laboratory led by Juan Manuel Falcón-Pérez, the meeting showcased the strength of the Basque research ecosystem and its international collaborations

La XI Carrera Solidaria contra el Cáncer de Mama, organizada por Acambi Bizkaia - Asociación y el Gimnasio Urtzi, reunió a miles de personas en el Guggenheim y volvió a agotar dorsales semanas antes

La recaudación se destinará íntegramente a para apoyar el proyecto liderado por la Dra. María del Mar Vivanco, centrado en comprender la heterogeneidad tumoral, la resistencia a los tratamientos y las recaídas

Porque en biomedicina, la investigación continuada es clave para avanzar hacia tratamientos más precisos y personalizados

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase some of the centre’s key scientific infrastructures and technological capabilities, including the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Proteomics platforms, as well as CRTLaboratory, where research focuses on resistance to cancer treatments

🤝 These visits contribute to strengthening the connections between science, technology and industry, while showcasing the capabilities of the Basque Country’s R&D&I ecosystem to professionals and organisations from the international community

El 25 de septiembre, el Muelle del Arenal de Bilbao acogió la Noche Europea de los Investigadores e Investigadoras EHUzientzia En acercamos la ciencia a todos los públicos con «Las células: un taller de arte y ciencia»

🧫 A través de actividades prácticas, descubrimos el papel de las proteínas en nuestro organismo, cómo se estudian en el laboratorio y su relación con distintas patologías. Además, cada visitante pudo llevarse su propia muestra de microscopía para seguir explorando el micromundo como hizo el pionero Antonie van Leeuwenhoek
