CIC bioGUNE Bilbao

CIC bioGUNE Bilbao Center for Cooperative Research in Biosciences Every year, The Center commits more than 5.5 million € to research and dedicates 450 thousand € to Ph.D. training.

CIC bioGUNE (Center for Cooperative Research in Biosciences), a non-profit biomedical research organization, founded in 2002 at the initiative of the Department of Industry of the Basque Government, opened its research facilities at the Technology Park of Bizkaia in January 2005. Since then, CIC bioGUNE has been playing a strong role in advancing biomedical research and technological innovation in

the Basque Country. To support the research activities of The Center’s scientists and students CIC bioGUNE made an investment of more than 35 million € in state-of-the-art research infrastructure - in genomics, gene silencing, proteomics, metabolomics, NMR, electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and computer and animal facilities, among others. It employs 22 research group leaders, more than 85 postdocs, technicians and engineers, and provides training opportunities to over twenty Ph.D. students each year.

| 🚺 Meet Laura Bozal

This month in : Female Voices at , we highlight Laura Bozal, postdoctoral researcher in the Cancer Cell Signaling and Metabolism Lab, led by Dr. Arkaitz Carracedo

🔬 Her research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms driving therapy-resistant and metastatic prostate cancer. Using mouse models, 3D prostate organoids, and multi-omics approaches, Laura investigates how primary cilia and the UFMylation pathway promote tumor aggressiveness, with the goal of identifying new targets for precision therapies
