1st of March 2022… I threw a Calçotada in the exact weekend the Covid restrictions where lifted but nobody dared to do anything yet.
Far over 450 people rocked up over the day. We where completely overwhelmed, sold everything out, cars everywhere, had a traffic-jam from Inca, as well as from Sineu towards our gate. The Guardia civil came on motorbikes because their colleagues where stuck in the traffic down the road. 😳😅
They where stunned as well and Sten’s panicked voice shouted through the walkie-talkie “Stace to the gate, Stace to the gate, we have visitors - Guardia!”
But even they had to laugh when i rocked up at the gate with the legendary words “I just invited the neighbors”. 🤣
“Por favor, lo se… es completamente fuera de mano” 🙈
Oh man that was one for in the books! The smell of smoke, calçots, Martijns famous sauce, great live music. Friends who just came for a drink but ended up working harder than a well oiled machine to keep everybody happy. 😆
So thankful for all. The only event in all these years we actually really fundraised something after the huge costs made as we literally just raded our house and even sold the last two lost potatoes lying in the kitchen hahaha.
Gosh, what a crazy day where everyone was just so happy, loving, not on their phones. No mouthmasks, no desinfection and sooo many families thanked me so much for having a great “normal” day again. 🥹
We even made it into the newspapers the next day!
Reading the tekst of the 2022 post back moves me. I am incredibly proud and happy i could be part of these times with my baby, Rancho Fino Mallorca, having my husband by my side.
Today 1st of March 2026 im having a little private calçotada with those exact people who, for all these years, do make it happen. Who are always standing there again. Working hard, donating their time and skills for our Rancho Fino Family - supporters, donators, fans, animal enthusiasts, neighbors and everyone interested to experience a little bit of Rancho Fino Rescue.
Today we thank them. The people behind the scenes. The ones we can always count on and stand strong with us, for those without a voice! ❤️
