- “We need cities to stop looking alike, to become themselves again”
Our co-host Prof Greg Clark CBE was featured talking about in over weekend. He explained that there are three elements to the concept:
1. The Genetic Code: The unique combination of ecological factors, preconditions, social and historical realities that make each city distinctive.
2. The Epigenetics: The collective experiences of people as we adapt to urbanisation en masse, and the particular adaptions we make in different cities that give use a collective, city specific, mindset, behaviour code, culture, and ‘way’ of living together with our shared hopes, fears, scars, wounds, and myths.
3. Regenerative Medicine: The extent to which we can create conscious cities that recognise and embrace the genetic code and the epigenetics of the city, and work with it to find authentic paths.
